There was an interesting article posted here about two months ago, maybe slightly before 9-11 about a community in Mexico who couldn't keep any of the factories they attracted going due to lack of workers.

American factories are more than happy not to move to Mexico if they can get by with paying only slightly more than Mexican wages here.

Can we avoid stereotypes like this, please? You can go into the discount store any day in my lily white town and see large numbers of mothers with illegitimate children. Traditional, conservative Hispanics hold marriage is high esteem, just like traditional, conservative whites and blacks. Illegitimacy is epidemic.

US companies in mexico don't pay much. They can bring their 30 non-working relatives to NC and sign them up for free medical care, free food, public housing, free schools, etc. etc. Beats supporting them if you're a mexican but it sucks for us US taxpayers because those social-program dollars are ones that won't go to OUR needy.

It used to be that such population migration would have been a result of a major war. What war has America lost?

Nice idea, but the statistics don't bear you out. Illegitimacy rates among whites are about 27% (obviously some geographic regions will have more than others.) Among Hispanics it's about 40%, and among blacks about 65%, with inner-city blacks' illegitimacy rates up around 85-90%. Obviously the rates are too high all around, but there are distinct racial, geographic, and class differences.

An accelerated means of gaining citizenship is to join the armed forces. When I have told this to the “I want to go to America” foreigners I meet, they look at me as if I had four heads. Apparently coming to America is one thing, serving in its’ military is quite another.

Traditional conservative Hispanics aren't the illegal aliens. Most of the very traditional conservatives ones were either here before the SW became the US or came over during the Mexican Revolution. The conservatives from Mexico follow the rules and come legally.

The baby can be very convenient because that qualifies the mother to stay in the US and also collect welfare and food stamps. One reason for the very high illegitimacy rate for the illegals is the quick and easy citizenship and free money they can get out of it. Anyone who doesn't believe it can come and look at the housing projects and county hospitals in the SW.
