We have a church near where I live where people speak in tongues, as a catholic I find this completely bizarre but I dont want that church shut down..

Why, as a Catholic, is the gift of tongues bizarre to you? Have you ever heard of Charismatic Catholicism? I would venture to say that you will see more praying in tongues in Catholicism than in any other sect of Christianity.

I've heard of the Charismatic Episcopal Church. Can you tell me more about Charismatic Catholocism?

Serious inquiry here. Answer via FReepmail if you want to take it off thread.

Shalom.

The charismatic movement swept through the Catholic and Episcopal churches in the 70's and 80's. It was the first time in my historical time frame that Catholics and Protestants began to worship God together. It was a great time!
