PENTAGON: CLINTON FAILED TO REBUILD OR MAINTAIN US STOCKPILE OF FUEL AIR EXPLOSIVES
Pentagon
| 12/10/01
Posted on 12/10/2001 8:39:27 AM PST by Steven W.
Military analysts had long predicted that a key weapon in the US arsenal that would be deployed against caves and other hidden, underground AlQaeda hideouts would be Fuel Air Explosives (FAE). Similar in their degree of potential devestation as the 15000 lb. "daisy cutter" bombs, the Fuel Air Explosives rely on an in-air explosion which would remove all available oxygen from the terrorists hiding in caves & (if not killing them) force them out into the open.
While ferocious bombing of such caves has taken place over the past week at Tora Bora, however, there's been no report of these valuable tools have yet to be employed by the US military. Today, when Cmdr. John Stufflebeem was asked about their usage, the Pentagon revealed the reason: During the eight years of the Clinton administration, the DoD was unable to procure or rebuild our supply of these weapons which, like other munition systems, had been totally depleted during the Gulf War a decade ago.
Similar problems have arisen during the Afghanistan campaign, with the (Washington Times previously reporting US) Navy running out of PGM (Programmable Guided Munitions) early on in the campaign and having to turn to the Air Force for resupply, with the Air Force's former stockpile had also been largely depleted during the Kosovo air campaign. The US faces similar problems with the largely depleted numbers of Cruise Missiles, a favorite tool of distraction for the Clinton Administration, who relied on them frequently during periods of investigation such as points of key testimony during Clinton's impeachment. Thus it was also no surprise that the US has relied considerably on UK + NATO allies for submarine based munitions.
But this latest Pentagon admission, that the US has not resupplied such valuable tools as FAE's over the past eight years, is just further evidence of the degree to which the Clintons thoroughly abused this country and left the US military in a total state of need & neglect.

When the DoD releases the transcript of today's Pentagon briefing, this fact of Clinton neglect should be broadcast wide & clear. Outrageous!

The knives are really coming out if the above is a direct quote.

I caught that on TV this morning. What's the dif between a Daisy cutter and a FAE? I thought they were one and the same.

It will take a long time for us to realize every facet of just how weak that SOB left us, and a longer time perhaps to fully make up and recover for it.

Above is ALL my characterization & reporting of what Pentagon said. Stufflebeem was asked if they were being used and he stated bluntly, that, no, the US had not had any inventory of them since it was depleted during gulf war.

There was an article some time ago, entitled: "Where Have all the generals gone?" Aparently under Clinton, there was a mass resignation of 23 Generals and Admirals who protested Clinton's abuse of the military. It didn't get much play in the regular media.

Is a cigar considered a fuel air explosive?
To: proud patriot
given that he protested AGAINST the US and smoked dope and american flags during vietnam, i would not be surprised by anything, hes a mole, he is anti america, he wanted the presidency for 2 things: power, and to harm us as much as possible. hes a damn traitor!!
To: classygreeneyedblonde
He really is scum...........but i also put blame on the military leaders they could have spoke up How? If the Commander of the US Armed forces doesn't want to listen to his cabinet generals, what are they to do? Publicly? That's one way to get reassigned to ice station zebra very quickly. Nothing like publicly criticizing your Commander, and making them have to possibly act, and expecting a reward.
I blame the congress, who is supposed to be OF THE PEOPLE, and FOR THE PEOPLE, and to which is passed the duty to protect the people. Instead were seeing tax money go to milk in VT, herbal aromatherapy for low-income housing people, and a variety of other pork barrel items.

A Daisy Cutter is a very large convention bomb.
FAE is a muntion that releases a cloud of flammable droplets over the target and then is ignited, it creates enough pressure to detonate mines and sucks up all the oxygen in the immediate area, think naplam that doen't need to hit the ground to explode.

What's the dif between a Daisy cutter and a FAE?The BLU-82 is a conventional, but very large, iron bomb.
The FAE is a much smaller bomb that spreads aerosolized fuel (ether, propane, depends on who designed it) and a small charge to ignite the fuel that is suspended in the air.

To: zandtar
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!!
To: Bill Rice
The press has not been very good in outlining the distinctions between the two. The daisy cutters are like dropping a (conventional) 15000 lb. McVeigh OKC bomb. The FAE's are like dispersing gasoline and then igniting it. The latter was potentially particularly valuable because it would suck the O2 out of the air in the caves and make the terrorists vulnerable to lack of air no matter how deep they were. Daisy Cutters are just like (really, really) big bombs.
To: proud patriot
Do people here think that Clinton was actually taking orders from a foreign power? I find that hard to believe. Maybe he was just checking with the Chinese on what their preferences were. Or maybe he was taking orders in the sense of "takeout" rather than command--as in "I'd like a missle/satellite navigation, comrade." In any event, he might as well have been directly working for anyone but us, whether he did so consciously or not.
To: SAMWolf
Beat me by mere seconds it seems. And your explanation was better written. Tip 'o the hat.

To: Steven W.
Can one of you freeper military experts tell me whether or not this means that we will not be able to expand our war on terrorism. This is very frightening news. Are we going to be completely unable to defend ourselves until we can make more of these bombs and missles?

but i also put blame on the military leaders they could have spoke upWhat leads you to believe they didn't? And exactly how do you think they could have "spoken up"? I'm sure they lobbied privately for such weapons, but there's only so much they can do. The President is their Commander-in-Chief and as such is not to be criticized publicly. Someone with a military background correct me if I'm wrong.

Of course Clinton did this - along with much else. He was and is an employee of Communist China. Why would we expect him to do anything but endanger America's security and enhance China's military development?
But - We are now in a War. What is to stop President Bush and Sec of Defense Rumsfeld from saying: We have urgent needs of this, this, and this munition and war fighting supply (make a list) and get these into production NOW! If we got going, I am sure we could get the companies that produce these going 24x7 to get these online and out the door - as was done during WWII????
This was one of my first reactions to this war - we need to be on a manufacturing WAR FOOTING - (talk about jobs!)- putting in the orders for everything that Clinton neglected plus some that is needed now. Who can get this "wish list" together and get it right and get the orders in and be sure the government is not paying 3 times or more what each munition is worth? Surely somebody can be assigned the procurement monitoring task - and get these munitions and other supplies ORDERED NOW. If not, please tell me why not?

Hehehehe. Finally the Pentagon speaketh!
They sure are glad to be rid of him!
To: Steven W.
Maybe enough of these abuses will be uncovered to prompt Bush to modify his "New tone in Washington" approach and finally go after these vermin. I am not hopeful.
To: volchef
I've always felt we are fighting with one arm tied behind our back. It's clear our actions are limited - for example, the number of theaters that we can face at any one point in time is limited. It is disconcerting - but take heart that, thanks to the election of GWB & RBC, "Help is on the way!"
To: Steven W.
Navy running out of PGM (Programmable Guided Munitions) Hate to nitpick here, but PGM stands for Precision Guided Munitions. Google showed no match for "Programmable Guided Munitions."
To: classygreeneyedblonde

Since you actually heard the briefing, could you please post what was actually said without the editorial comments? I doubt that the Pentagon referred to Clinton and investigations.
This current post is not news. It is an editorial on what this person thought he heard. This forum will go into the toilet if this becomes the mode of posting.
Editorial comments are to be posted BELOW the line.

FAE bombs are of limited utility...they need almost windless conditions to work properly...and as anyone who has lived in mountainous terrain can tell you, "mountains" and "calm air" are not generally found together.

I was hoping this is what war bonds would go for; in fact, after 9-11, I was speaking with some folks about United Way funds, etc., and expressed some doubts about where the money would go. But I'm all for contributing to a big fund to buy Rummy a whole bunch of daisy cutters, bunker busters, fae's and cruise missiles!
To: Bill Rice
The daisy cutter is an 25,000 lb impact or barometry activated HE type bomb that uses concussive force to remove landmines, bunkers, building, reinforced defenses, and personel. The air fuel munition is designed to use shockwave, fire, and oxygen deprivation (due to rapid fuel consumption) to remove personel without massive infrastructure loss. FormerRep

It won't unless we start right now calling and emailing all of the networks on this right now. Time to get cracking folks. I have been hammering out the Meet The Press e-mail and contact numbers to friends all day. If there is one thing FoxNews is good for it is a story like this. Time to show more damage from the Clinton era.
If you think e-mail's and phone calls do not work you are wrong. Let them know you are pissed!
To: nocommies
Notice that none of the media ever inquired as to who paid for Bill's trip to Moscow during his college years in England. I wouldn't be surprised to find that there is an Order of Lenin medal with his name on it locked away in a KGB safe. Burgess, Philby, MacLean, Clinton.....

The President is their Commander-in-Chief and as such is not to be criticized publicly. Someone with a military background correct me if I'm wrong. The ultimate weapon is to resign and call a press conference. However, non-team players don't get to be very senior officers so this is just about unthinkable.

I doubt that the Pentagon referred to Clinton and investigations No they didn't - they (Stufflebeem) stated the simple fact that we don't have any FAE's & haven't since Gulf War. The Pentagon has protocol to follow; it's up to an informed public to read between the lines and figure out the simple fact that if, after eight years of Clinton rule, we don't have any, that, as with so many of our defenses, it's obvious Clinton failed to maintain our stockpile.

I think he sold us out to all enemy foreign powers. Many wanted the playing field leveled, and he obliged them. Don't ever believe this was about money. He's a globalist commie.

Do people hear think that Clinton was actually taking orders from a foreign power? That depends, do you think his p*nis is a maybe a Polish Sausage?

I forgot to mention, there was an AF general, Keenan or Keegan, who resigned with a blast at Jimmy Carter for not paying attention to the Soviet threat. The same JCS who later discovered the Evil Empire for Ronald Reagan shrugged Keegan (or Keenan) off as suffering from overwork.
