Ithaca Schools Grade Kids on Compliance with Liberal Agenda
Ithaca City School District
Posted on 12/14/2001 11:19:45 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest
I was recently given a copy of the official Ithaca City School District report card for all elementary schools within the district. The very first thing that children are graded on is:
"Respects others of varying cultures, genders, experiences and abilities."
Thus it would appear that children are actually being graded on their political views, on their allegiance to the PC multicultural agenda.
I consider this an outrageous infringement of the First Amendment freedoms of the children and their parents. Obviously no one should be permitted to physically disrespect another child, but surely a child should be entitled to stand up and state that he believes that his culture, gender, etc. are superior to others.
Oh, and by the way, in the "Social Studies" section, the only items that kids are graded on are "Multi-Cultural Education" and "All About Me Unit". Nothing about citizenship, history, etc.!

I have a scanned copy of the report card in my computer and would like to post it if someone could explain how to do this in HTML. It is not an online picture with a web address, simply a scanned document.

Where is Ithacta? NY?

Perhaps you could do a story on this for Newsmax.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
If you have a IP that offers a free webpage (such as AOL or EarthLink), use it to post the scanned file and post it. Then just type <img src=(address of the pic)> and post it just as you would any other post.

Ithaca is in Central New York, about 50 miles south of Syracuse. It is home to very liberal Cornell University, which accounts for its liberal tilt. Not long ago it had a self-described socialist as mayor.
To: Rodney King
Good suggestion, RK. I will prepare and submit something to Newsmax.

If you are really outraged, you must have moved to Ithaca recently. :)
The demonic otherworldliness of Ithaca's public school system is a frequent topic here.
We have a critical mass of current and former Ithacans (Cornell/Ithaca College alums) to keep the threads alive.

School is sure a lot different than when I was a kid. I was never exposed to this crap that passes for education. Shades of 1984! So if you raise your children according to your own values the schools will thumb you in the eyes for it. Now we know where all the future Rat voters are coming from. They're a product of the multicultural politically correct public school system. Incidentally one that Republicans are helping to build by funnelling tax dollars into. Don't y'all just love the irony of liberals helping conservatives to dig their graves... With even more liberals coming home at the end of the school day to boot. Gee thanks Principal!
To: L.N. Smithee
I don't subscribe to either, but will keep looking for a free host. I have to run to the gym now, but if later I'm able to post it I'll ping it to you and the others on the thread. Thanks.

I've been here for a while, but this is just so blatant and outrageous, to actually see in print that kids are being graded on their political views!
To: katherineisgreat
A lot of donations to the Toons' defense fund were mailed from Ithaca. That should tell you something right there.

13 - The madness is so ingrained they feel comfortable putting it in print. That IS scary.

LOL. A hands-on class no doubt!

Thus it would appear that children are actually being graded on their political views, on their allegiance to the PC multicultural agenda. Yep. And just think - once school vouchers get entrenched and the private schools and homeschoolers get used to and dependent upon the federal money, the same thing will be happening in private schools and homeschools. Think I'm kidding? Not even. That's precisely the plan.

"I have a scanned copy of the report card in my computer..." You'll need software similar to "TextBridge Pro" that takes the scanned image and turns it into an edittable document. After that you would need to format it by hand using the proper HTML tags then cust and paste it onto FR.
Do a Google for Freeware or Shareware that might do this. My PC came with TextBridge and it works very well.

This is scary. Scary stuff like this spreads. What happens if they fail "Multiculturism 101"? Do they go to indoctrination camps? What about academic subjects? Are they graded - A,B,C,D,F? Obviously, people in Ithaca approve of this nonsense or it wouldn't happen. There are some cities people should just stay clear of.

"Now we know where all the future Rat voters are coming from."
Why would anyone believe that public schools are other than what they are?
Namely, a sophisticated 20th Century scheme to socialize the young in accord with the desires of the ruling elites.
End the War on Children! Stop Public Schools Now!
American public schools have become an enemy of American liberty.

Ooops. cust and paste = cut and paste.

"Respects others of varying cultures, genders, experiences and abilities.".
I do not have a problem with that particular statement.
Ever hear of the saying "Do unto others as you would have them do unto yourself"?
I do however have a problem if this is done with the implied message that European culture is in some way less desirable.
And I have a real problem with the lack of emphasis on civic responsibility

And I have a real problem with the lack of emphasis on civic responsibility...My stepdaughters attended elementary school in Ithaca. I think it is a fairly accurate statement that there is almost a blatant message that European culture is in some way less desirable (except for Swedish style Euro socialism).
If you do a search here at FREEP you can probably find the article a posted a few months back about how the middle school had a group of Cornell professors and Muslim activists come to school and explain how Muslims are not bad people (ok) and how the PLO and others were somewhat justified in their use of terrorism.

Then crick on 'post reply' then crick paste. &^)

I have no doubt. Such a shame.

"Oh, and by the way, in the "Social Studies" section, the only items that kids are graded on are "Multi-Cultural Education" and "All About Me Unit". Nothing about citizenship, history, etc.!" That's because too many schools, even some private ones, are actually indoctrination centers.

In some schools, school officials wouldn't let students describe September 11 as a terrorist attack. They had to call it an "incident." However, with their half-assed zero tolerance rules, a kid can be labeled a terrorist if he draws a picture of a gun in class. Is there a lack of logic here?

Nothing new about that. I think that was a criterion I was graded for when I was in elementary school 15 years ago... in a private Christian school

Actually, I think a link is sufficient for the phone numbers. Otherwise it would take up too much space on the thread. I would like to see the report card, however.

Why do they use nine words to say what could have been said with the first two?

From hearing about Ithaca in all these posts I have to assume that the place is really infested with liberals. Don't you wish there were someone like Orkin you could call?
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Maybe we need to post a contest for the most evil city. Is it Ithaca? Berkley? Madison, WI? NYC (pre-9/11)??? I'll post one of my most disturbing Ithaca memories later, when I have a little more time.

Ithaca is in central NY. It's a liberal oasis in an otherwise conservative rural area.
Ithaca spent its share of the Great Tobacco Settlement on solar electricity panels for the city library - in one of the cloudiest and snowiest regions of the country.
To: ctdonath2
And it sure is fun here when all the new freshman come to town with our one way streets. Used to be around here, "Ithaca Is Gorges," that wasn't too bad. Now we can't get a new store built around this dump. This "City of Evil" is getting just what it so richly deserves, lots of room for loonies.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Here's the report card - hope it is legible. Look in the upper left hand corner for the "respects other cultures" grading.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Trying again to post the report card. Someone please let me know if it is visible.

Thanks for trying, but I get a "forbidden" screen when I click on it. Was the report card visible on your thread? I only see a box with a red x in it.

OK, here is a way that people can view the report card. Go to the web page below, click on "view photos", and you'll see it!! http://photos.yahoo.com/markfnkl

My eldest is a Cornell grad. The first time I visited her there I took her on a tour of the bookstore. I showed her the shelf space alloted to "Anthropology" and "Womens' Studies."
We both had a good laugh. She is home-schooled in reality.
