Sorry, don't know. However, he has an extremely flamboyant attorney...so you can count on more news conferences.

This is from the Kentucky State Militia:

Charlie is doing fine and is planning on fighting this pack of lies. There are several reasons for the BATF pulling this stunt, among them to try and bring the KSM down. They had tried earlier this year when they had someone from Indiana call Charlie up and ask him if he wanted to purchase some LAW rockets. He immediately called the FBI and relayed this information to them. They also think Charlie is lying to them about not knowing the location of Steve Anderson. They accused him of this during their raid.

To answer the question many of you are asking "Is Charlie a convicted felon?" let me try to clarify some things. It is my understanding that Charlie was convicted of a felony. This occurred in 1966 (two years prior to the 1968 gun control act) and he was 19 years old. At that time in the state of Virginia he was considered a minor and not an adult. This was a juvenile record and not an adult record. Also to be convicted of a felony by taking then was only one hundred dollars or more. (today it would be more like three hundred dollars) His charge was for breaking and entering a country store to get something to eat and they took just a little over one hundred dollars worth of food (there were other people involved). Charlie paid his debt to society and has led an exemplary life ever since. I would hope none of you in the patriot movement would now turn your back on him now for this teenage indiscretion. I'm sure there are many of you out there that have probably done as bad or worse but just were not caught.

Now to answer the question, the FBI does not consider Charlie a convicted felon. He has purchased firearms where he had a background check run by the FBI. He is a concealed carry permit holder, meaning in this case not one but two background checks. One by the Kentucky State Police and another by the FBI. And the concealed carry permits here are updated once a week by the state police. Charlie's CCDW was not revoked as the BATF claims, he voluntarily surrendered it to the state police on the day of the raid. Only the unConstitutional BATF considers Charlie a felon.

I hope this resolves some of the questions that you all out there are asking. I hope to have a statement from Charlie in a few days which I will forward on and also post on our website at www.kentuckystatemilitia.cc. He will also be doing a press release on Tuesday with his attorney.
Lt Colonel Stracner, Kentucky State Militia

Please note the article states: "Alcock obtained court records that show that Puckett has a criminal record, which includes the following charges:

It does not say that any convictions resulted on the first two cases, and the third has already been discussed as having been a misdemeanor at the time.

The militia should have the same standards for membership that the Boy Scouts do.

Folks in Kentucky just want to be left alone. What's so difficult to understand about that?

So is he in the Kentucky State Militia, or a private paramilitary group which *calls* itself the Kentucky militia?

In the posts you refer to, Article one concerns the elder Puckett, and article two is about the younger Puckett. Do you believe the son should be made a target for the statements of the father?

It's kinda incongruent to "want to be left alone" and make statements on the radio like the following:

Agents began investigating Puckett after he made inflammatory statements on two separate radio programs. In one statement, Puckett said that if any ATF agents were to come to his home, "The Garrard County coroner would have a mess on his hands."

On another occasion, Puckett reportedly said that the militia would guard the McCreary County Courthouse from any attempts to remove the Ten Commandments, and said that if anyone would try to do so, "It would be lock-and-load time."

Who is Gatewood Galbraith defending? Puckett Sr, Jr, or both?

With a police record like his I would not be tempting fate. I believe firmly in the second ammendment but this guy looks like a accident waiting to happen. Sorry, can't support your beliefs in this case.

You should tip a brew at the local tavern and hear some conversations there. Are you proposing that we abolish the first amendment?

He is the attorney for the elder in his attempt to regain his firearms....but apparently represented the son in the news conference mentioned in the second article.

But just two weeks ago, federal agents raided Puckett's home in Lancaster, Ky., and seized the following: --Assault weapons

Not illegal.

--Handguns

Not illegal.

--Sniper rifles

Not illegal (what the hell do they mean by a sniper rifle?)

--Parts of explosive devices

Probably flashlight batteries.

--Booby-trap devices

Probably a mouse trap or a bear trap.

--Almost 40,000 rounds of ammunition

Not illegal.

Nope.....but if I broadcast a challenge to the ATF on the public airways....I wouldn't be surprised if they paid me a visit either.

Puckett is being represented by Lexington attorney Gatewood Galbraith

Well, so much for this guy's chance at having competent counsel.

Now, now...why would you say that?....this case is tailor made for Gatewood.

The statements he made are what got him to the top of the in-box. People are afraid of another ruby ridge. It's only common sense for the feds to intervene. This is a bad case for any lawyer.

You are correct, sir. Nothing owned by the elder Puckett is illegal; did I mention the ATF also seized his computer (presumably for "research" purposes?)

I'll rejoin this topic tomorrow, I've got an illegal arms bazaar (gun show) to attend in the AM. I'm looking for the latest assault style boxcutters...

I agree Puckett Sr ran his mouth and got the attention of the "wrong" people....but this is either a non-case or there is alot that has not been reported. Galbraith is the local high-profile lawyer. Ran for Governor, Ran for US Senate, does criminal defense of the "little guy" against the "establishment". Not adverse to trying his case in the media. If Puckett has a shot, Galbraith is his best bet.
