My Wife Needs Prayer! And Does Jobs Test of Faith Happens to All Christians?
Self ^ | 12-17-01 | Grassontop

My wife made a statement to me the other day and now today it finally has me in a turmoil! Her statement was to me, "I feel like this is my last Christmas"! She explained to me that she feels like her Chrones disease is hurting her more than she can bare, as well as having a hernia protruding from her belly button! Also, she has a big knot about the size of a fist below her rib cage along with some other internal small knots that I have personally felt!
She told me finally that she felt like she has cancer and her womanly intuition is telling her that she don't have long to live! I'm worried and my wife sure can use some prayers from all you who I know that are prayer warriors!

I thank everyone for the prayers now in advance for I may not be able to answer for awhile being that my wife and I are heading for Cumberland, Md tomorrow. We both need some rest! Grassontop

I feel like Job in the Bible! Many of you know that my son and grandson were having a bad time this summer with the mother, and then having those magistrate courts, social services hearings about that situation, then of course having the Secret Service come to my home because of the "Commanderless in Chief" name Clinton, and other things that have happened in my life!
My faith in God is still strong, but sometimes I doubt some things, for I think I been through enough test in my life, but, I realize now that life is always about testing of ones faith, and I reckon I better get use to it, for I know that the devil in hell hates me with a passion for turning my life over to Jesus Christ!
I told my wife she isn't going to die of cancer for God wants her around for our grandchildren and 50 years old is too young to die, even though I know that some have died of cancer younger than that, but my wife is a christian and I'm sure God isn't going to let her go yet! Grassontop

Thats tough, man. My dad had a stroke late last year and at times it was quite rough going for him (and for my mother and I)...To hear a man who until a few years ago was working 12 hour days, six-seven days a week, and who has been a Christian (and an excellent example thereof) for more than fifty years say he just wanted to die because he felt so useless, slow and sick was very very hard.

All I can say is: keep praying, surround yourself with your church family, and when push comes to shove (especially if you find yourself being pulled into the downward spiral), seek out a good and reputable Christian counsellor to talk to, preferably someone not intimately involved in you and your wife's lives ie not your own pastor/minister, because it sometimes really helps to talk/hear from someone on the 'outside'. Good luck to you both and merry Christmas

Before I go to bed, I want to add that my wife says to me that she don't think the doctors will care about her because of her being overweight! She thinks doctors don't care about these types of people being that she was a registered nurse for some twenty years!
I feel like crying, then again, I feel like digging a hole and burying myself, then again, I want her pain to go away and get healed! I am feeling really mixed up right now! I'll wait and see what the doctors have to say! Grassontop

I know this may be brutal, but me thinks if your wife had it you would know that it is Krohn's Disease.

Prayers have been sent. Your wife has shared her worst fear with you and she was right to do that because she felt she had to. You have to be strong for her and yourself now. A yeomans job. I sometimes find answers in Psalms and Proverbs. I sometimes just cry it out, but I've always come through it a better person. Eagles up!

One more thing I need to add for prayer and that is her blood count which has been over 200! She also has a diabetic problem along with all this other mess! I'm seeing from some of you I definitely need to get counsel for me, for this situation is dragging me down! Grassontop

Actually, it is Crohn's Disease.

I knew it was spelled that away, but my mind is a little numb right now from all what she said to me and forgive me for not being able to spell some words correctly! Diseases were never my best spelling, but all that matters is that she does have this disease along with these other problems, and I know that God is greater than these diseases! Grassontop

I can't speak directly to Crohn's disease but I did go through ulcerative colitis (a close relative.) Through treatment and several surgeries I got better. That was 25 years ago. I can sympathize with anyone suffering from this type of disease. I can offer her my best wishes.

I do hope your wife is seeing a competent doctor. There are treatments available that help greatly. There is a sulfa-type drug that binds to the tissue and helps cure the ulcers and sometimes a cortical steroid is used to relieve inflamation. Many people live with colostomies or iliostomies for years. (Bob Hope, Loretta Young to name a couple of famous ones.)

I can't speak directly to Crohn's disease

My wife has already been to doctors along time ago and they gave her a medicine called "dipentum" and it helps her, but I really do think that her high blood count has something to do with her mind frame as well as those lumps in her body.

I just wished she wasn't so negative about doctors, but her nurse experience sometimes interfere with her thinking about doctors helping her! She has watched too many doctors prescribe the wrong medicines to patients and many of them died as a result, so she probably does have a right to be a little fearful of them doctors! Grassontop

Who cares how you spell it--suffering is suffering, and we, as Christians, are told to bear one another burdens; to weep with those who weep, and rejoice with those who rejoice. My prayers are added to yours for a mighty healing for your wife. May God grant you the rest and peace that you desparately need right now. May you feel the warmth of His eternal presence and the depth of His abiding love for both of you.

Susan

She simply must see someone for treatment. You may have to pursuade her to see a doctor. There are good doctors in this field, probably better than those I saw years ago (not to disparage them either.) She simply must see a specialist. It isn't like her problem is unknown (that's much harder.) I would drive (or be driven when lucky) about 250 miles to visit the guys I was seeing. (Texas is really big.)

Grassontop, I'll pray for your wife, but she really needs to see her doctor or go the the emergency room ASAP for a definite diagnosis.
God will use physicians to help her.

I have a dear friend with Crohn's, and I know how serious it can be.

Her symptoms are clearly frightening her, please encourage her to go, do not wait. Not knowing, and imagining what is wrong is making her think she is much worse off than she actually may be. She will become depressed if she already isn't, with constant thoughts of her own death, then you will have a whole set of other problems to deal with. Fear can then gain a foothold on you both. I encourage you to seek help for her now without delay.

God bless you for being such a loving husband.

I had a hernia from a hole the size of the doctor's fist. I also had irritable bowel syndrome. When they installed a foot of plastice to fix the hernia, the bowel irritation reduced enormously. It's my suspicion the stretching of the intestines is a form of irritation that rpmotes other intestinal disorders. Get the hernia fixed.
