but I am going to trust Bush and not micromanage every step.

Translation: "I will not object when The Party shoves it up and breaks it off, for I am a loyal Party member."

I am both pro-life and have no problem with appointing pro-deathers. We need to convert them before we impose a law, how better to convert someone that by keeping them in the mix.

I think President Bush recognizes that the most important thing right now is for the country to be united. Clinton really succeeded in dividing us, so much so that a civl war was an honest possibility.

President Bush is a uniter and he campaigned on the issue. He is doing what he said he would do. It is more important right now for the GOP to be inclusive than it is for some people to "get their way".

We actually sort of agree. What's going on here???

Is there a full moon?

Seriously though, we probably agree on a lot of things, but the heated disagreements probably overshadow the things we agree on.

Principles don't matter. The only thing that counts is winning. If we have to hire RINO to win so be it. The conservative base be screwed they're a bunch of ultra right wing wackos.

I didn't care if Klinton got a Monica in the Oval Office. I cared since he LIED to me. I wanted him gone for different reasons. Reasons like selling the country out to Communist China, the Travel Office railroading, and the FBI files.

We just watched the New Jersey and national GOP sandbag conservative republical gubernatorial candidate Bret Schundler, handing the election to small time perennial democrat loser Jim McGreevy. Endorsements and finances were withheld until the last possible minute, by which time Schundler's momentum was crushed.

Rather than risk letting a real conservative take a pivotal election, today's republican party will let the democrat win. And here we have Eisenberg, one of the GOP sabateurs of the Schundler campaign, rewarded with a key slot in the RNC.

Where's the BARF ALERT on this thread?

So you don't care that Eisenberg is committed to removing the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform?

You don't care that Eisenberg, while his voter registration is Republican, has contributed to the political campaigns of pro-abort Democrats, among them Walter Mondale, Dick Gephardt, Tim Wirth, Chris Dodd, Bruce Babbitt and Joe Biden?

You don't care In the early 1990's, Eisenberg, a married man with 3 children, lost his job at Goldman Sachs due to a sexual harassment lawsuit brought against him by a young woman with whom he had a 7-year affair?

If you don't care, I guess you believe the ends justifies the means.

"The conservative base be screwed they're a bunch of ultra right wing wackos."

Exactly. They deserve to be used and lied to by the GOP. They got what was coming to them when they believed GWB's campaign promises. They asked for it. Right?

Placing Eisenberg's name into nomination was Mississippi Republican Michael Retzer, who says the Party needs liberals like Eisenberg to raise money. And he says the concern of conservatives over Eisenberg's liberal leanings are misplaced because the proper role for Party liberals is to raise money to support the goals of conservatives. He calls that part of the GOP's "big tent" philosophy.

This statement by Retzer is so convoluted, I had to LOL. Since when is a liberal going to support the goals of conservatives? These RINOs have done nothing but fight conservatives every step of the way on virtually every issue that conservatives consider important.

If the Repubs continue catering to scumbags like Eisenberg, this party will cease to exist in short order.

I received a fund raising letter from the RNC yesterday. I wrote on it,"I do not support socialist liberal republicans", and returned it in their postage prepaid return envelope. I urge everyone to do the same.

Our national committee members(who we elected) caved in again. Granted, they had a difficult decision that would have rejected the President's choice, but they had ample reason to do so based on the character issue alone.

It never looks good to when this type of confrontation occurs, but it's going to continue until the rubber stamping stops. Our national convention is a joke and our party will continue to be run from the smoke-filled rooms until we take a stand.

I will agree with you that the NJ Republican establishment(led by DeFrancesco) were lukewarm about Schudler, but so was all of New Jersey. NJ has elected Jon Corzine, a socialist with no politcal experience and went heavily for Gore.

Your simplistic rants about why Schundler lost are naive at best and disingenous at worst. Bret's a big guy(and not a whiner) and he will lick his wounds and will come back, IMHO.

Republicans must present an easily-understood, credible conservative agenda. When we do, we win; when we do not, we lose.

Republicans must go beyond putting forth a conservative agenda, and instead actually pass a good amount of legislation that could be considered conservative. The time for lip service towards conservatives has passed; it's time for the Repubs to start walking the walk, otherwise there won't be a Republican party.

Does every person appointed by Bush (or Racicot) have to be 100% conservative? Of course not. But there have to be better choices than the Clintonian Mr. Eisenberg to handle this job. The Republicans ALREADY collect more money than Democrats, so they don't need this jerk.

If you don't care, I guess you believe the ends justifies the means.

I'm in to ELIMINATE democrats politically. This is war. ELIMINATE the Klintons. ELIMINATE John Edwards. Eliminate DiFi and Boxer. Eliminate Riordan(he's really a dem) and Davis.

If Eisenberg can get us the money and do a good job(and hopefully give us money for the state rep race I'm treasurer of), then I'm all for him. He's not running for office.

To an extendt the ends do justify the means. If we don't fight to win, do you think that partial birth abortion is going to go away?

Spoken like a true murder-loving, big government-craving RINO. I expect no more from you folks.

Thank you for your reasoned and non-vitriolic reply. You may call me naive(that's perfectly fine with me) but I will trust President Bush. He has been a man who has been "misunderestimated" from day one(starting with his election as Governor over Ann Richards).

IMHO, President Bush surrounds himself with people you know how to do a prescribed job well and yet does not relinquish his core principles.

He is following the Reagan model, IMHO.

I get those letters all the time, and I have NEVER given a dime to the Republican Party, because it was used to re-elect socialists like Jeffords, Chaffee, Collins, Snowe, etc. I only give money to SPECIFIC conservative candidates. Looks like I'll be able to keep my money this year...30-seat pick-up for the democrats in the house this November?
