All this and lots more can be found at www.klamathbasincrisis.org Great! I'll have to go there and start checking it out. Thanks.
DEQ has given another 60-day extention on this issue.
Great news! At least it's a start. Gives us time to rally the troops so everyone can comment.

The people at that meeting gave the DEQ members an education about the fact that with soil in the watershed that has many times the normal phosphate loading, that their goals to reduce phosphates will never work even if all humans leave.Check out the thread "A Proposal To Boost Klamath Agriculture" for a way for a lot of farms to get help.Ed Hubel.

I think it will round off my collection quite nicely.
Three times the cost of the Savage, but I think it will serve my needs better.

My husband and I own 600 acres in the Klamath Basin and the harm that the environmentalists are causing to the liveliehood of the Klamath farmers and ranchers is far worse than most can image. We have friends who have had to sell all their cattle and land with nothing to fall back on. Land is now dirt cheap in Klamath County and getting cheaper. Many locals feel this is a concerted effort to force the farmers and ranchers off their lands and to hand over that property to big money interests. (ie how many of you know that Disney owns about 1000 acres on the western side of Klamath Lake? It is a luxury resort that boasts a 18 hole golf course, condos and luxury vacation homes with private docks to allow sailing on the Klamath Lake. Their next venture is to buy Pelican Butte and create a ski run and lodge. We have friends on the other side of the Oregon border in Tulelake California who own a crop dusting company...his father homesteaded the property after the second world war and created a lucrative business. But, now his son (our friend) who just retired from the Marine Corps as a Colonel, is looking at loosing his fathers hard earned business because of the Water Act. We are unbelievably angry here and most fear this summer is going to be a do or die situation and things could get "rough". The winter has been extremely cold and snowpack is WAY above normal...but we have already been told that NO WATER will be released no matter HOW deep the Lake is. Please, I ask all of you to write your senators and congressmen about this. Oregon is a very liberal state and our Governor is not likely to help or show concern. He works for the folks in Portland, Salem and Eugene who look at us as backwards and ignorant. Thanks Selah

What has happened to you folks is a crime. The new biological assessment is due out anytime now, as well as the NAS Review next week. I understand that the BOR do not know officially what water will go where.Who told you that you would get no water. We need to pick on them and find out if they have inside info.Ed Hubel.

The BLM informed the farmers and ranchers that they will not get water. OH, I left out another interesting tidbit in my last post. When the WWII homesteaders built their farms and ranches, they all pooled their money to build irrigation ditches for their fields. Last year the farmers were told that they COULD NOT USE their OWN irrigation ditches, despite the fact they were FULL of rain water and literally flooding over. IF they were caught using those ditches they would incur a hefty fine!!!!! There are signs all over county that decry the government intrusion and "crime:". ONe is my favorite "Call 911, some sucker stole our water!" Selah
