Again, I must ask all Freepers who are willing to help in keeping a prayer vigil for one of our very own. Well, actually two. Freeper Netmeg (Megan Graham, freshly turned 15) is the only child of Freeper Yellow Rose of Texas (Susie.) Megan is facing another tough journey. She will be admitted to Presbyterian Hospital under the care of Dr. Gerhard Maale for a surgical biopsy of a suspected malignancy on her distal femur. Susies mom is going with them and her brother will be flying in on Tuesday. Megan only recently completed a major spine operation to correct severe scoliosis. The prayer thread from that is here. The saga of Megans left leg and knee area began on August 31st when the knee popped out and Susie took her in for emergency care. The doctors in emergency and their ortho doctor, although they did the xrays and saw at least one bruise on the bone, diagnosed it as water on the knee. But it never went away. It was missed again during her hospital stay for the spine operation. And it was missed again in December. No wonder her local doctor was furious this last week that all the prior doctors ignored the signs. But everything is moving very rapidly now. Her pain is spreading above and below the knee, and friends of the family who happen to also be doctors unanimously suggest osteosarcoma. If that is the case, it will involve chemotherapy, then surgery, then chemotherapy and, of course, extensive testing to determine if it has spread. Shes been going through tests almost on a daily basis and is due to check into the hospital on Tuesday with the surgical biopsy planned for Wednesday. So far, they are not aware of any affected soft tissue. Megan is no stranger to life threatening health problems. We call her a miracle child, a tiny angel who blesses our lives with her faith and peace. Her life has been a miracle from the very beginning. She did not breathe for 4 minutes after she was born, a 0 on the apgar chart, and then she took a breath. As a baby she had an intrasception. She had lots of ear infections and strep throat. She had asthma and seizures which she has outgrown. But it seems that outgrowing these was met by a new onslaught of issues the severe sciolosis and now this. Personally, I think in those 4 minutes when Megan was born, she was in Jesus' arms and He filled her spirit and returned her to Susie. Thats why I think she is like an angel a vessel of blessing to all who know her. PRAISE GOD!!! Doctors cannot save lives - the best they can do for anybody is to prolong life and give comfort. But God is a different story. He saves lives (both spiritual and physical) and HE has already saved Megan's physical life from even more immediate threats. So, if you will, please lift Megan and her mom up in prayer!
...she's just a kid; too young for this kind of thing, for sure.
