About 2 years ago, I was using a search engine to look up "breast infection", as I had mastisis at the time(which is an infection that nursing mothers often get). I click on one unassuming link, and ended up with a hard-core porn page (my son is playing in the backround as this is going on). As I tried to close the browser, more screens would pop-up with more porn. The filters didn't take care of the problem. Someone please explain to me why making it more difficult to access porn is a bad thing? Spare me the "slippery slope" argument.

The porn industry these days is not just the standard missionary position.

It's brutal.

It involves painful anal sex for women, previously GAY practice; it involves FISTING, again previously a GAY practice; it involves rough sex, slapping and choking; it involves women wearing baby/teen clothes with lollys and bobby sox getting beaten up by old men. These are practices in MAINSTREAM PORN not even in EXTREME porn!

Either they clean up their act or they will be shut down. Period.

It's the porno spam that floods most homes (with LINKS!)...where children left too often alone have hours to explore a world they can't possibly comprehend. The damage being done today will show up tomorrow, in increased emotional problems, STD's, abortions, suicides, drug use, broken homes....it's a sure thing....and it's a crime.

I called my ISP and she said that it's almost impossible to stop this from the source, too easy to move these boiler room operations. The best way to slow it down is for the public to finally get outraged enough to tar and feather Flynn and co. Contributing to the corruption of minors is still a crime, and one of the Biggest crimes in The Book. If the President simply calls the casual porn peddlers to account for the legacy of their "work" he'll be helping.

Well in this case, no one has provided the absolutist case -it's merely been asserted that X is more offensive than Y. Unless some rationale is given, I can only assume that a finding of X being preferable to Y is nothing more than a personal preference. My point was that the list of offensive sexual behaviors was essentially arbitrary given that no one has provided any particular reason why the things listed should be on the list.

No kidding. What really frightened me is that the women had no pubic hair. I thought two things when I saw that: 1) OUCH!!!!!! and 2) They are making grown women into pre-pubescent children. Very scary.

I was talking about responsible and moral behavior, and that's it.

But on what basis is pornography considered to be immoral and irresponsible?

Drunkenness is immoral and irresponsible, clearly, but I don't see many people--except reformed drunks--campaigning actively to crack down on 'demon drink'. So clearly porn must be worse than alcohol in the minds of many. What is the porn equivalent of drunkenness? Sexual arousal? That doesn't require porn, so that can't be it.

Is it the effect upon children? That's fair; it should certainly be kept well away from kids. But again I get back to alcohol. That should be kept well away from kids, too, but I've never heard of a campaign to keep kids away from liquor, or to get liquor out of homes where there are children. I'd much rather have my kids viewing porn than drinking my booze. So that can't be the real issue, either.

So what is the issue? What makes porn more immoral and irresponsible than drinking alcohol?
