I saw the speech this morning. President Bush was filled with grace and love. The only lousy part was that Senator Edwards, the new clinton clone that will run against GW in 2004, was up there with him. He gave a speech that was "for the children" and prayed that the leader would "feel peoples' pain"...yes, he actually said that. Also, the hildebeast was front and center at a table just beneath the stage. Before the speeches began, she made sure she was talking to people and had the camera on her at all times. Our President was understated and dignified, as well as humble.

Exactly -- and Edwards and Hillary! looked oh soooo small in comparison.

What a wonderful closing paragraph to this speech. ' ... suffering produces perseverence, perseverence produces character and character produces hope...'.

"...we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverence; perseverence, character; and character, HOPE. And HOPE does not disappoint us because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) whom He has given us." - (Romans 5:3-5)

What a wonderful prayer breakfast. I'm glad it received so much coverage. Brit Hume did an entire segment
on his Fox News show last night. Very touching; inspiring. We need more of this.

piasa--Thank you for posting the Scriptural reference. I thought that sounded familiar, and I am glad to see I was right.

Many of the President's speeches contain phrases from Scripture without direct reference...apparently the reporters don't recognize it unless you slap them up the side of the head with a big old phot-op Bible.

This was wonderful, and I am so glad I got to see the entire program. All were very good (except for Edwards political prayer) and the singing of Amazing Grace at the end was touching.

John----The last paragraph is quite serious and we would be advised to pay attention. This is the third reference I have seen made to approaching adversity or hardship. The war is about to take a difficult turn, I think, and I will not be surprised if we have another attack soon.

I caught it, Cincy. Very, very moving. I wish I had taped it.

I echo your concern, Miss Marple. We need to pray now more than ever.

Tremendous challenges await this nation and there will be hardships ahead. Faith will not make our path easy, but it will give us strength for the journey. The promise of faith is not the absence of suffering; it is the presence of grace. And at every step, we are secure in knowing that suffering produces perseverance and perseverance produces character and character produces hope and hope does not disappoint.

Lord, I thank You for giving us a man of faith as our President.

JH2, Thanks for posting this.
