Whoo boy, here we go again. Olympic figure skating judges are being accused of cheating. This is a story that is about as new as the notion that the Corleone family business may not have been limited to selling olive oil.

The International Skating Union is investigating, although it says that regardless of what it finds, the results cannot be overturned.

What the ISU meant when they said they can't overturn the results is this: We can do whatever the hell we want, but we aren't going to give a gold to the Canadians because we plan on stonewalling and obstructing until the American media gives up.

They don't realize how persistent the American media is. And soon, we may find out this scandal goes to some of the highest levels of the ISU.

and, thankfully, no one has yet suggested making ballet an Olympic sport.

Well, let me then be the first to suggest that! It'll bring more of that attractive demographic group with plenty of disposable income to the telebision sets, the San Francisco fairies.

...thankfully, no one has yet suggested making ballet an Olympic sport.

Uh, but they HAVE suggested BALLROOM DANCING, which is even more stupid than ballet.

Ballroom commentator to other commentator: "Well, Mitzi, it is clear that the Brazilians won the tango, electrifying the sellout crowd here at the local gymnasium. On the replay, you can see that the wiggle in her sashay was of superior quality."

Well, I've suggested putting skates on WWF wrestlers ("the Rock does a triple axel and body-slams Nancy Kerrigan into the ice!") but I suppose we tried that once with Tonya Harding...

Thanks for posting this - I read it a little while ago, and considered starting a thread. Disgusting state of affairs all the way around.

There was corruption at the 1998 Nagano Olympics in the ice dancing. A judge was publicly humiliated, and put on sanctions by the ISU and the IOC. Hmmmm, and guess who was invited to be a judge this year at the Olympics? Yep, the same judge.
