What is the best link to the congressional voting record. I sent an email to my representative asking him to oppose the bill, but I never received a response. . .& his web-site doesn't mention how he voted. That makes me think he was one of the "weak-kneed" 40.

Thanks so much ! You're the greatest ! Happy to see that I was wrong in my assumption. My congressman was one of the "strong-kneed" 176.

I hate to admit that two from my home state of Nebraska voted for this abomination. Osborne and Bereuter. Osborne has been so disgusted, as a freshman congressman, of the events in Washington, I can excuse him. For Bereuter, I have no excuse.

If you do create a CFR ping list - please add me to it.

People should continue calling faxing the White House today re: urging the President to veto this monstrosity. I'll look for the WH phone numbers that were posted yesterday and the day before.

They should also call or email their local and state Republican party leaders with the same message.

There is a check-off for the Presidential Election Fund ("PEF")on the IRS1040 form. I consider this an annual referendum on the TAXPAYERS support for public financing of the presidential election.

The most current data from the IRS and the FEC shows that only 13% of the TAXPAYERS check the YES box. The PEF funds three activities: (1) the Primary Election, (2)the Convention, and (3)the General Election. The PEF also has a priority system in the event of a short fall of money. Now guess which of the three activities is #1?

The correct answer is THE CONVENTION!

The pimps of the election industry, many of whom are the leading voices for CFR, ensure that there is funding for their social get togethers.

Wake up people!

I left out a portion of my previous post.

The low TAXPAYER participation (13%) was the principal reason that the Congress increased the check-off from $1 to $3 in 1993. The annual $25 million siphon of TAXPAYER money was not enough, so the Rs and Ds in 1993 overwhelmingly increased the check-off and nobody said anything!

What are these jacka$$e$ in the U.S. Congress trying to accomplish with this bill? ... to "eliminate soft money from politics." these same jacka$$e$ only need to say "NO" when the money is offered.

Does anyone else notice a mistake in the party affiliations ? The name of Lewis(KY)is not written in italics (denoting D) but rather in Roman print (denoting R). Lewis is a Democrat representative from northern Kentucky. The only Democrat in Congress from Kentucky, he often votes with the Breaux/Zell Miller faction. Seems like a pretty glaring error.
