To her credit, Decter expresses such blunt criticism, while Ralph Reed, formerly of the Christian Coalition, goes on frenetically apologizing to the Anti-Defamation League for what may be the American Baptist role in the Holocaust and Spanish Inquisition. If only Christians could overcome their self-inflicted spasms of guilt, they might write lines like these: "It was no secret that some significant part in the emptying of the [moral-religious] public square had been played by Jewish liberals. It was understandable to me why this was so, because their long history had left many Jews with an atavistic fear of Christian authority ? so the more public life could be kept strictly secular the safer they felt. But understand it or not, I believed that the religion-free public condition to which they had made such a vital contribution had left American society, and particularly American culture, vulnerable to pernicious influences."

There are many Catholics who believe the same thing ... Ted Kennedy comes to mind. However, liberal Catholics (in name only) don't represent me as a conservative Cathoic. The same can be said about Jews.
As a Christian, I am eternally grateful to the Jews in a religious sense. They are the vehicle of my salvation. It is THEIR history, THEIR faithfulness, THEIR communion with God that ushered in MY redemption, MY faith, MY life as I know it. They are FAMILY to me in that sense.
I will always and forever side with Israel regarding their land. It might as well be the USA because I feel that strongly about it!
Now, that said, I do not like liberals. Not Jewish liberals, not Christian liberals, not atheist liberals (I qualify the word "like" to mean "strongly disagree with politically" because I know liberal people that I personally love and respect).
The media is way too liberal and we need to balance it. That is as true today as it apparently was in the 70's.

If Nixon were president today, the media would treat that as a plus. Don't you remember the media consternation recently when Bush said that he didn't recognize the name of Leo -what's his name- from the movie Titanic?

For a press account to deem him "anti-Semitic" because he thinks some Jewish businessmen aren't doing a better job is ridiculous.
