Maybe the police should have handled things a little better than smashing the guys door in with a sledge hammer.

Bust down the old mans door with a sledge hammer and 10pm because he has a dumpy house. This should have been handled differently.
All this while our government encourages and supports the *MILLIONS* of illegal aliens that fill our jails, choke off our social services, drive down our wages, while driving up the taxes, standing room only in many big city ERs, while packing them into our already overcrowded classrooms etc etc etc.

About 10 p.m., Marquez knocked on the door, then pleaded with Wolk to go peacefully. Finally, he broke down Wolk's apartment door with a sledgehammer. He was immediately greeted with gunfire, wounded and fell in the front vestibule. By the time it was over, both Wolk and the officer were dead. What are unarmored police officers doing breaking doors down for non-emergencies? If the guy refuses to come out, isn't that a job for SWAT? I thought they handled all of the difficult cases (when the officers know in advance it will be a difficult case).

Getting back to the article posted. I have big problems with code violations as a reason for dynamic entry. I have an even bigger problem with code violations leading to a death sentence, without even the benefit of a trial first.
Dynamic entry should only be allowed if there is an immediate threat to life of innocent people. No other reason. None. This was not the case. All LEOs involved should be fired, today.
BTW, This event could not have happened. Mr. Wolk could not have shot anyone with those .22 handguns. Handguns are not allowed in Chicago.

If you haven't looked at this thread, you should. Ping!

And to think, if the cops never had shown up at his door, two more people would be alive today and not much else in this case would've changed. Why didn't they just pick him up when he was out and about during the day rather than storming his castle?

Good ole goobermint trying to tell citzens how their house must be in good repair, OR ELSE! It seems appearances mean more than private property rights. I have no pity for people killed or injured trying to tell other how they must keep their property looking.
