Officials in the governor's administration are pressuring the Legislature to cut short its investigation into who is responsible for a botched software deal with Oracle that could cost state taxpayers millions, the lawmaker leading the inquiry charged Wednesday.

Florez has vowed to ferret out who played key roles in the controversial deal and has already held one hearing at which senior administration officials divulged that aides to Gov. Gray Davis participated in the discussions. The state auditor, who scrutinized the deal after a Mercury News investigation, has said it could saddle the state with $41 million in unneeded database software.

I am eagerly awaiting an article in the San Francisco Chronicle calling this a political witchhunt. Adlai Stevenson really was right when he said that in a democracy people generally get the government they deserve.

and if this were Microsoft, the Senate (tm) would be beginning their investigative hearings. BTW - is that all they do? They sure can't pass - gass - for doing the real work of the senate.

This does seem to be the same thing that they took Quackenbush down with. I wonder if the California press and legislature will investigate this as much as they investigated him.

Thanks John! Just another page in the criminal activities of Fascist Davis and his fellow rats in the legislature.

Where is our great state Attorney General, who claims to be so tough on corporate crime?

Whoreacle is typical of any Rat run corporation!

``We know this is painful for the governor,'' Florez said. ``But we still want to know who screwed up.''

This is bad enough the LA Slimes is on the case and giving the Governor a recommendation to fix the problem quick before it wipes out his (and theirs )plans for reelection!

A spokeswoman said the governor's office would decide on a case-by-case basis whether to allow top aides to testify in front of the committee.

Basically, if the top aide knows something about the deal, they won't be allowed to testify; if they know nothing, they will be testifying. This is so transparent!

Mr. Davis, you can run but you can't hide! Your corrupt money-grubbing administration is finally catching up to you! If couldn't happen to a *nicer* guy.

Dump Davis!

Go Simon!

Hey, if the Left-Angeles Times even PRINTS near the truth on this matter, Davis should be cooked! But, I don't expect to see THAT newspaper print REAL news!

A lot of us in calipornia are as distressed as the Guv about this latest little Ops... Even the liebral rags have to cover this... it stinks to high heaven for a number of reasons ... I just hope some "honest" representatives in the caliphonia legislature have some balls and go thru with a thorough investigation.

DUMP DAVS
