Aide who took donation for Davis resigns By Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Gov. Gray Davis' director of e-government personally accepted a $25,000 political contribution from a lobbyist for the Oracle Corp. last year, shortly after the state signed a controversial long-term software contract with the company, The Bee learned Thursday.

Davis "knew nothing about the contract" and generally is "completely mystified by technology." Ah, the "He's not corrupt, he's too incompetent," defense.
Shades of when Clinton's lawyers argued before the House impeachment committee that he wasn't lying "because he has his own version of reality" - i.e. dellusional.

Is the fat lady singing? She might very well be, but I can't hear her in Panama. Can anybody help? Thank you.

Davis "knew nothing about the contract" and generally is "completely mystified by technology." Gee, I thought he was technological and electrical distribution guru.

It's called the "Bozo" defense, made popular by the Clinton admin. It goes like this:
"You can't hold us accountable for that as it's completely understandable that we knew nothing about it, even though we were directly responsible for it. We're incompetent, not criminal."

it ain't over, but it's too late, baby...

An audit subsequently found that the $95 million, six-year software licensing agreement could cost the state $41 million more than it would have spent without the deal. Davis must be incompetent,-- Oracle make 41mil, and his cut is only 25K.

Is this the same Oracle that was a BIG contributor to Clinton?
Just wondering.

I caught that also. In this era of technological advances not too many pople are willing to say they are "completely mystified" by it, especially someone employed in a position that should require its use. I believe you made an excellent analysis of the "spin" Davis is trying to put on this blunder.

Maviglio said Davis
"knew nothing about the contract" and generally is "completely mystified by technology." Well isn't this just great that the morons who voted for this e-clueless govenor to lead California, one of the premier states of technology innovation turns out to be "completely mystified by technology" and might I add, electricity. Is it any wonder this state is in such financial chaos?
Seems to me this Technodud giant, Grayout Davis, only knows how to do four things:
1).raise campaign money;
2). spend taxpayer money;
3). ruin Californians with massive debt;
4). talk about the ancient 1974 Roe vs. Wade ruling.

Is this the same Oracle that was a BIG contributor to Clinton? Oracle, the company with 25,000 in the sales department and 2 programmers.

Just wondering. Hmmm.... This issue keeps coming up.
Check out "Grampa Dave"'s comment on an earlier thread here, on his interesting experience with a RAT from Oracle. It looks to me like Oracle is run by more of the likes of McKelvey...
Buy elsewhere if you can.
