Political foes and government watchdog groups blasted Gov. Gray Davis on Monday for asking Northern California college students to pay for the chance to meet him.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon spoke out the loudest, chastising the Democratic governor for charging students $100 to attend the March 8 cocktail reception at the Mark Hopkins Inter-Continental in San Francisco.
