This is not a terribly popular doctrine these days. The sceptic in the street finds it as hard to swallow as a wafer full of flesh and blood, and the church has been happy to let sleeping dogmas lie, allowing individuals to decide whether Old Nick is a personification of human evil or a red fellow with a big fork.

A big bump for Cardinal Tettamanzi!

I agree, he doesn't sound too bad. Every now and then someone describes him as moderate, and that always makes me cringe since I'm a flaming radical, but he does seem pretty good, and is clearly being made more papabile.

I thought Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos was the president of Ecclesia Dei now, and IRC, the Pope recently stuffed it with a couple other Cardinals as well.

Several Cardinals in Ecclesia Dei... that's an interesting development. To me it sounds like it will be expanded or something greater made of it. I thought Cardinal Hoyos was President too. Maybe this is preparatory to getting the SSPX back onboard. Could Ecclesia Dei become an entity like Opus Dei?

The VAtican offered to make the SSPX an apostolic administration, which is even better than a personal prelature. In a personal prelature you are subject to the prelature for some things, and subject to your local Ordinary for others. The SSPX Bishops admitted, at least one did, that an apostolid administration was perfect for them, but they won't accept it.
