"I wonder if there would only be twenty posts.."LOL. And half of them are yours. ;^)
Seriously though, there is a lot of naysaying and handwringing when there is so far to go to votin' time. I do hope that this time is being spent well by Simon's camp in organizing and planning for the November push. And I think it is...

It is good news. That's why it's not generating any interest, apparently. It just doesn't fit in with the "Simon's running a horrible campaign!" theme so prevalent around here.

Don't worry about it. There'll be plenty of crow to be eaten here on FR when Simon wins the election.

It also doesn't fit in with the "Mexican immigrants are all socialists trying to destroy the country" theme of late.

Does it fit in with the "only way to reach out to Latinos is to pander on Illegals" theme?

Don't know. Haven't been watching close, what did Simon do to get their support?

Not being Davis is a nice start. Maybe the Hispanic groups couldn't scrape up enough funds to get on Grayout's good side. :-)
I don't know what went on behind the scenes.

Not sure either. Davis has been a disaster for people of all ethnicities.
Simon has given mixed signals, as far as I'm aware, of reversing Davis' decision not to appeal the Prop #187 ruling of Mariana Pfaelzer. I don't know if that's in play, I'm guessing not.
Whatever the reason, it's hard to imagine that Simon could have out-pandered Davis for these MAPA endorsements.
Ernest or Dan might have a better idea.
To: kattracks
Simon forces said Davis aides were "caught off guard by the groundswell of Simon support [and] attempted to alter convention rules, and even canceled the convention, in order to cover up the Simon victory."Typical liberal ... if you can't win by playing with the Rules, you cheat.

According to the Simon campaign press release, here are what some delegates said:
"I am firmly committed to supporting Bill Simon," said Mary George, a small business owner and a MAPA leader. "I stand with Bill because he stands for honesty; a man of true character and a worker like us." "As a family man, I see a better future for my children with Bill Simon as our governor," said Carl Ornalez, a realtor. "It troubles me that my children's education and future is at risk due to a governor who cares more about his fundraising than our children's future."
Monica Navarro, a businesswoman said, "Simon es un amigo del pequeno comerciante y se identifica con la idologia latina, la honestidad, trabajo y familia." (Simon is a friend to small business owners and he identifies with Latino values, honesty, jobs and family.)
Hispanics are just like everyone else: there are liberal communists and family-orientated conservatives. We should just forget about the liberals, and focus on the families that share Republican values, no matter what their race or color. "Honesty, jobs, family." I like that. And the fact is, more Hispanics are religious and their religious values are more in line with Republican values than Democrats hedonism.

You wouldn't want to post that over on the "disunited states" thread (yeesh, really you should stay away from that one, it's ugly)? Good stuff.
