Sacramento -- Gov. Gray Davis announced Monday a plan to build 11,000 new units of housing for the homeless by 2010, nearly tripling the state's current commitment.

Much of the money to pay for the housing would come from a $2.1 billion housing bond that is on the November ballot. Davis administration officials also announced a series of steps to try to combat homelessness, following recommendations made by the governor's task force on the issue.

"Government housing projects have a way of degenerating to the point they have to be evacuated and then what happens? The government evacuates the units, rebuilds and remodels them, and moves the former residents right back and they start the cycle all over until the homes are trashed again! And then what happens? The government evacuates them, rebuilds and remodels the units, and then moves the former residents back in and they begin the trashing process yet again! "

Sounds like a good opportunity for an enterprising construction company though! Would have to have connections with Davis probably. Maybe if I give him some kickback. Man what a scam!

Well, it IS a scam, but I'm not sure about the extent of the State of California involvement. These projects i'm talking about are Federal Housing units, but you can readily see how the contracts can be awarded to "deserving" contractors. What DAVIS wants to do will work out the same way over time. It's disgusting!

You truly shocked? Didn't think so.

What's an election without bond measures? Democrats never met a bond they didn't like (well, with the exception of more prison construction, that is)

Now, now, you aren't trying to tell me that it's the Republicans that are into bondage?

Are you?

"In the 1950s and ‘60s, Mayor Richard J. Daley oversaw the construction of public housing high rises like the Robert Taylor homes, Cabrini Green, The Henry Horner Homes and Stateway Gardens. Today, another Mayor Daley is tearing them all down. It’s all part of a city-wide program the Chicago Housing Authority calls its “Plan for Transformation.”

Most of these are already gone as part of an 8-year program. Although Cabrini Green is located just northwest of downtown Chicago, the rest are on the south side (where "bad boy" Leroy Brown lives). The North Shore is quite expensive.

From the Chicago "loop" looking North.

It's been a long time since I visited Chicago, and I rembered the North Shore as being a very expensive area. Anyway, the cycle of constructing public housing so that the poor can happily trash it and destroy it continues unabated. And then, the liberals raise the usual hue and cry about lack of housing for the poor so that more housing can be constructed! HA HA! What a SCAM! Imagine the housing debacles in Chicago and magnify the cost throughout the entire nation, and consider that this criminal waste of tax funds has been happening for DECADES and it will continue unabed for MORE DECADES!
