GOP Stalwart [Lyn Nofziger] Attacks Simon
L. A. Times ^ | 9-6-02 | MARK Z. BARABAK and JEAN O. PASCO

Posted on 09/06/2002 8:23:31 AM PDT by GraniteStateConservative

Lyn Nofziger, a conservative stalwart since his days in Sacramento with then-Gov. Ronald Reagan, denounced Simon as "inept, weak ... and too dumb" to beat incumbent Democrat Gray Davis.

Further, Nofziger said he never worked for Simon, despite an announcement from the campaign earlier this summer in which Nofziger was described as a senior advisor to "Team Simon."

"I never signed onto anything," Nofziger said in a telephone interview Thursday night, during which he vouched for the commentary that first surfaced on the Web site of Campaign for California Families, a group that says it lobbies for conservative family values.

Stick a fork in Simon, he's done. And they wonder why the GOP is the "stupid" party the way we eat our own.

Look at how the disrupters get into Republican/Conservative campaigns then work with outside front groups to put the screws to Republicans. The enemy is within. Republicrats do more damage from the inside than they ever could from the outside.

RANDY THOMASSON is founder and executive director of Campaign for California Families (CCF), a nonprofit, nonpartisan pro-family organization standing up for moms and dads, grandparents, children, and concerned citizens statewide. Considered one of California's top pro-family leaders, Randy is on the front lines fighting to restore family-friendly values to the nation's most influential state.

What is up with Randy Thomasson? Is he a closet gay or what? What is the dirt on this guy? He was the one who started this gay issue for simon. Now that Simon has said that he is totally against all this stuff he is still sending out the old info .

I think that he wants and needs Gray Davis for his funding. I am sure that he is making more money the last four years with Gray Davis in office.

Based on what?

He came out in support of some homosexual position, same sex marriage or partnership benefits a few weeks ago.

Apparently you have been in a cave since "a few weeks ago." Simon has since refuted the claim a hundred times. Why don't you get up to speed before posting your bile.

See you got my email. What do you think? Maybe they caught Nofziger between his third and fourth martini? Guess he forgot the eleventh commandment!

Was'nt there a dispute early in Simons run that involved some consultant (nofzinger?) leaving in a huff?

You mean like folks constantly posting things such as "Stick a fork in him!"? Even though all the polls show that Davis is still very vulnerable?

This has been a most strange election season.

Simon should be running away with the race, but something always pops up to sabotage it.

I have such mixed feelings about this. I want Davis defeated and disgraced, yet the next Governor is going to preside over an economic disaster. Do I really want to wish that on a Republican?

Good question. In my district in 1996, we nominated a fiscally conservative, but pro-choice (she opposed state funding of abortion, but didn't support outlawing it) Republican and a radically pro-abort, pro-gay-marriage Democrat. It looked like the GOP was going to win the seat.

Thomasson's folks put out a last minute mailing blitz and a push-poll that split the vote and got the Democrat elected. They then had the audacity to show up at the post-mortem conducted by the county GOP committee and do a "I am Christian Right, hear me roar" act where they BRAGGED about doing this.

Anyone who was a known part of the "Religious Right" got broomed after that stunt, all the way down to those who volunteered to man phone banks and drive voters to the polls (including me). Thomasson then kvetched about how "religious conservatives were getting purged from the GOP."

He's worked very hard to split the vote--and now I realize that this guy is using the Delphi technique.

Maybe he's light in the loafers. Or maybe he's the "Religious Right's" answer to Jesse Jackson--someone who doesn't want the problem solved, because that means he has to get off the gravy train. But he's doing the Devil's Work.

True to form, Nofziger is no conservative!

In the 70s he and his coherts flew in from DC and scuttled a conservative takeover of the California Republican Central Committee. He talks a conservative line but is a sabataur just as Rove and Parsky!

The problem is that the "Christian Right" in California is extremely gullible. They will believe that some unemployed Greyhound bus driver and party that they've never heard of will somehow prevail in a district that is (barely) majority Democrat. (No kidding, that's who the American Independent Party ran in my district in 1996.)

I think it a symptom of having been screwed so many times. They are desperate for someone to believe in. They are simultaneously all too ready to believe that anyone who would claim such status is a fraud.
