Great to see everyone and meet a few new folks as well. RonDog, you're a braver man than I with that wacky getup!
And here's a second for an after-action report of the debate itself. How did our guy do against the wacky enviro-left? At least they stand for something besides shaking down every last person in the state for campaign funds.

There actually was a guy in a chicken suit, inside the hotel just outside of the conference room wherein the debate took place.

RonDog was taking notes, so he'll be more able to give us the debate specifics.

Bill Simon did a great job, and the Green candidate Camejo seemed like a nice enough guy, very polite to Bill. He reminded me a little of Buck Henry.

RonDog and I shook hands with Mrs. Simon, and Bill's brother-in-law. The Simon people were very interested in Free Republic. Now they know who we are, in any case.

I've been to a lot of Freeps, and the big difference here-- all the passing traffic (and there was a lot) read our signs and either gave us the thumbs up, honked their horn, gave the "V" for victory, or nodded in agreement. NOT ONE MIDDLE FINGER OR "F-U!" No angry responses. Why? Because no one likes Davis....

You are correct about NOBODY liking Davis!
Almost EVERYBODY loved our signs!

The best that the hardcore RATs could come up with was, yeah but - will Simon be any better?

Even the rent-a-mob bussed in from the "Legbreakers International, Local 666" were just going through the motions!
They certainly did NOT want to be there. LOL!

They were late arriving.
And THEY were so DULL, and passionless.
All about 30-something guys.

And, all with the same goofy industrial-strength 18"x24" "somethingyoucouldnotread/GRAY DAVIS" signs.

But WE had SPIRIT!

And pretty ladies!
And a darling little girl!!
And COSTUMES!
And ties!

OUR signs had PASSION.
And creativity. And diversity. And HUMOR!

In summary, we got SEVEN (7) dedicated professionals to invest an hour and a half of their day:

on a TUESDAY afternoon

at an event that was in efffect a "stealth" debate - with virtually NO ADVANCE PRESS.
(Even the debate sponsors did not promote it - on THEIR OWN website - until yesterday.)

with so little media coverage that even the debate itself (in media-intensive L.A.!) only attracted a TV crew from Stockton/Modesto (!)

where we had to FReep at a less-than-optimum location - outside, and across a busy street from the expo/debate.

And we yet - we looked MARVELOUS!!!

And, as we discussed, this FReep was in many ways just the "dress rhearsal" for future RAPID RESPONSE "DumpDAVIS" FReeps.

Now that we have PROVEN that this can be done, we can BUILD on this one.
And, with the right event, at the right venue, and the right planning, we WILL break through into the mainstream media the NEXT time!

Now that we know what we are doing, each new "Dump DAVIS" FReep will be BETTER than the one before - until November 5, when we will elect the NEW governor of California, Bill Simon!

Seriously, the freep was just great, too bad the news wouldn' t show up in spite of calls made to them! They aren't interested in advertising anything positive for Simon, especially when it is negative for Davis!
Love the Gray Davis outfit RonDog is sporting! Just hilarious. I can't wait for Sacramento so I can see this in person!
