LOS ANGELES -- Trailing in the polls a month before Election Day, Republican Bill Simon accused Democrat Gov. Gray Davis of auctioning his office for campaign contributions in their first and perhaps only televised debate Monday.
Davis defended his four-year record during the hour-long debate, saying he has made the state safer while helping schools even in difficult times.

Big debate bump! Thanks for showing up and getting in the news - RonDog, the superman guy and the now-famous chicken. Yahoo! For victory & freedom!!!

Unfortunately, Davis got the debate scheduled when the fewest number of people would see it. Hence, voters' assessment of the debate will be whatever the news media tell them it is.

I don't think enough people will have seen it for it to make much difference, unfortunately.
It will be interesting to see how it hits the TV news this evening - that's probably the best shot most people will have at seeing it.

Davis refused to rule out a midterm run for another office, such as president....That's a good one! He thinks he's a legit presidential candidate!

Methinks he thinks he is many things in his own little mind ;-)
He'll be lucky to get a tour of the White House again someday.

They didn't say that Davis never answered the questions, and they said that the candidates attacked each other. Simon DID answer the questions and DID talk about policy issues that the press wanted to hear about ... I think Simon did VERY VERY well and Davis blew it big time. I'm biased, I know, but everyone I talked to so far agrees with me.

A man dressed as Superman showed up supporting Simon, as did a man dressed as a prostitute, wearing a Davis mask and carrying a sign, "Will work for bribes." A third character was dressed as a chicken, accusing Davis of being too "chicken" to agree to additional debates.
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Fantastic! The Sac Bee actually reported the debate the way it was...and mentioned ROnDog, Outraged and other freepers! It was a lot of fun. Looks like the union thugs got two jobs done at the debate, they shut down the ports and supported Davis on their off time. These guys were angry looking thug scumbags. I am sure it didn't help that I called them "union whores" and "Davis' prostitutes". One union scumbag called me a queer, because of my Superman tights. I quickly reminded him that queer's overwhelmingly support Davis (no offense intended to any homosexual freepers).
