California: Elevating gaming over governance is a dangerous tendency
The Sacramento Bee ^ | Sunday, November 17, 2002 | Dan Walters

Once, it could be said, political campaigns and elections were merely the means of choosing up sides for the real business of governing. No more.

Over the last couple of generations, there's been a turnaround in the political culture. The emergence of television as a political medium, the development of professional campaign managers and such phenomena as permanent ideological movements, blast faxes, political spam, overnight polling, focus groups and computer-directed political mail are hallmarks of the perpetual campaign.

If Walters actually believes the garbage that he wrote in this paragraph, he should admit himself for drug rehab:

Newspapers, sad to say, have their own way of making too much of campaigns, and not enough of government. Most papers (not The Bee, thank goodness) have reporters who cover nothing but campaigns and the other trappings of electoral politics, but never cover the politicians once they are in office, leaving that to others. The reportage from that nonsensical system, as one might expect, presents politics as a spectator sport, full of tactics, inside gossip and leaks of opposition research on opponents but lacking much sense about what incumbents have done or what challengers might do if elected.

It is amazing to all of the major Left Wing Fish Wraps including the Bee who told their readers to vote for Davis nor slithering around like vipers try to get the truth about Davis out weeks after the election.

I have the feeling that they must had some focus groups with people like us who said that they were in bed with Davis. That their refusal to act like legitimate news paper reporters, editors/Publishers enabled Davis to be relected. Then their behavior is causing a lot of people to cancel their subscriptions.

The other possible reality that we don't know about yet, is that the debt, recession and budget problems are even worse than they are telling us. So the state of Kalifornicator under Davis, the Burtons and the liberal fishwraps is headed for an economical meltdown. So they are trying to get into their life rafts to get away from the Graytitanic as it does down big time in 2003!
