Look at it this way--they can't blame the GOP for the impending catastrophe.

I was hoping the absentee ballots would swing McClintock's way!

Can't help it--Democrats have been running the schools for three decades.

State Senator Tom McClintock today released the following statement:

"This year's race for state Controller has been one of the closest statewide elections in memory, but the ongoing count of remaining ballots now makes it clear that the Democratic nominee will be elected, completing the Democratic sweep of all constitutional offices in California.

"I am deeply honored to have carried the Republican banner in this election. And I want to thank all those who worked so hard on behalf of my candidacy, and who placed their trust in me at such a critical juncture in California’s history.

"At the conclusion of each election, we look ahead not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Californians, committed to assuring that the people’s decision yields the best possible results for our society.

"With a full heart I wish our new Controller Godspeed as he assumes the chief fiscal office of California at a time of great fiscal distress for our state and its people.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to contribute to the policy of California from the Senate and I renew my pledge to do everything I can to offer the reforms in public policy that I believe are vital to our state’s future happiness and prosperity."

I don't understand or approve of these politicians who concede BEFORE the final tally is in; what happens if the remaining votes are those needed to push the election to the one who has conceded ?

Does the counting stop when someone concedes ?

If he has conceded and then turns out to be the actual winner can he "take back" his concession ?

Yep, the Kali new math for the past 3 decades makes it very hard to accurately count anything.

It's amazing to me that a well-known advocate of fiscal responsibility can lose to a dot-com guy.

On the other hand, the dot-com is eBay, one of the few that actually turns a profit.

A concession has no legal effect on who is or is not certfied the winner. The candidate with the most votes is certified the winner (or in California, the candidate who had the most illegal aliens stuff ballots in his favor)

A concession is merely a means of showing class and acknowledging that the race is over -- something Rats often have great difficulty in doing.

What's pathetic is this Westley punk did nothing but run negative commercials on McClintock's pro-life position. Can you please explain to be what the CONTROLLER has to do with abortion?

I heard Tom McClintock on KSFO this morning. He stated that he was the TOP GOP vote-getter in the election, showing the a conservative can indeed get votes (unfortunately not enough to win in this case). He got more votes than Bill Simon.

Tom was the number one Conservative vote getter with Bill Simon number two. Tom is a serious Gov candidate for '06. Let Ahnold and Simon run for the Senate in the mean time. We will need McClintock's steady hand in '06 to govern this state after it bellies up.

Trouble is, people would rather drive the state into the ground, cause our infrastructure to crumble, drive business out of the state, ignore corruption, watch our public schools turn-out unmotivated morons, and choke on our own congestion, than give up on having baby-killers in charge of the Governor's office and the Legislature. California is a case-study of what happens when an entire populace becomes brain-damaged by liberalism.
