I know that the swastika is a prominent motif in Indian art, but the Indian swastika is upright and clockwise, and the decoration on the shawl is rotated 45 degrees and counter clockwise. Furthermore Queen Raina is no Hindu.

The swastika has a looong history, before the Nazi's.
Just FYI.
Bad taste? Uuhmm... yeah.
The Nazi's hijacked the swastika.... kinda like the homo's and the rainbow. LOL

One cannot even make the clockwise-anticlockwise argument because both designs are represented on the shawl.
Oh man, the protocol chief must have been having conniptions when they saw that. Nothing to do but graciously accept the gift and then put it away, never to be seen again...

I'd like a closer look--I'm interested in textile design. You could also call a pinwheel design a swastika, if you so chose. This looks kinda pinwheel-y at first glance.
A shame the Nazis spoiled such a good graphic.
As for swastikas being part of Indian design tradition, I believe that is American Indian of of the Plains tribes, but I'm not positive.

It is a design that existed long before the Nazi use of it. Australian Aborigines, North American Navajoes, Southeast Asians are just some of the cultures where it showed up---centuries, even millenia, before the Nazi.

I have a Persian rug from my Great Aunt, circa 1910. It has swastikas in the design -- fortunately they don't leap out at you.
Also strangely enough my brother has an Indian bead belt given my grandfather around the time of Pancho Villa which also has swastikas in it.
The only logical conclusion is that the Indians were a lost Iranian tribe.

The Jordanians oddly enough are one of the only nations who can be credited with keeping Palestinians on an Allah Damned short leash.
Jordan is one of the few countries in the region with effective domestic security and relative freedom.
The Palestinians who live there want absolutely nothing to do with Yasser Arafat.

Jordan is one of the few countries in the region with effective domestic security and relative freedom.
Jordan also has a peace treaty with Israel that contains extensive mutual defense provisions. Jordan and mainstream-Israel are friends.
However, the "Transfer" fanatics are neccesarily anti-Jordanian because they want to dump three million displaced and disgruntled people into their territory. Plus King Abdullah has clearly said that while he is a friend of Israel's and supports her right to defend herself, he does not support Israeli sovereignty over Haram Al-Sharif and/or the West Bank.

One organism's waste product is another's buffet. That's just the way nature cleans up after one another. My composting pile can reduce an entire bovine carcass into humus in just three weeks. Dead skunk? Odor gone in two and skunk gone in four.
I feed it sheep manure, horse manure, placenta's, hosehold garbage, junk mail, chicken feathers, and such. It's about 50' X 30'X 5'.
My daughter dug a foot deep hole, buried a twinkie, checked it a week later and it looked as fresh as the day she unwrapped it. I guess some feces is not pallatable no matter how you serve it up?

She's also a certified Palestinian. No doubt why What's-his-name married her. Most people in Jordan are. Jordan, once known as Trans-Jordan, is the part of Palistine that was assigned to the Arabs under British administration. Funny how there was no call for a "Palistinian" homeland when the west bank was part of Jordan. It wasn't originally part of Trans-Jordan, but the Arabs moved in anyway, and then the Arab Legion (Jordanian Army) took and held it in the first Arab-Israeli war when the Arabs thought they could push the Jews into the sea.

Abdullah is a disingenuous, lying bastard.
Jordan REJECTED the 1948 partition lines and invaded, occupying and ANNEXING the entire west bank and Jerusalem, and in 1952 granted all the West Bank arabs FULL JORDANIAN CITIZENSHIP, which was revoked later.
Dumping? What kind of "relative freedom" is there when Jordan capriciously grants and revokes citizenship according to short-sighted political whim by a non-elected dictator who only rules Jordan because the Brits felt bad that the House of Sa'ud kicked the Hashemites out of Saudi Arabia, which the Hashemites (direct descendents of Muhammad, erased be his name) had ruled in part or whole for ages?
Abdullah is a REVISIONIST. We had a revolution in our country a couple centuries ago, to throw off the tyrrany of a king and the tyranny inherent in any sort of royal system. Yet today, there are still people enamored by people based on inherited divinity. Sick.
Abdullah is a revisionist, and his wife is a terrorist apologist.
Like I said... if you polish a turd, it's still a turd.

The 45th Division had a patch that was an American Indian swastika that was changed to a thunderbird in 1939.
Both can be seen at the following website:

According to "Bitter Harvest" by whas her name......Of all the Arab nations, Jordan has by far accepted most Pali's. I think it's somewhere around 17,000,000 since the Balfore Decision process. The closest neighbor is something less than a few million and most of those are domestic slaves.
The catch is also that Jordan has a thriving economy which allows complete economic participation of the Pali's they've taken.
I'm all for bashing the Arab world full steam ahead, but one's ignorance of history and fact seems to be license to spout off much of which they know little. I have been guilty myself a few times. Theraputic none the less.
The ignorant bliss of being an American and the first amendment. Good entertainment from time to time.
