I get the feeling their is a lot of dazed and shocked Perry supporters here asking themselves, “Why did he fail?”
All I can say is that most people are still too short on vetting a person, too quick to idolized an iconic image especially when it has the word “Texas” involved.
But on the flip side its no big secret the FR is full of very very clever outside democratic groups that are finding subtle ways to herd the internet flocks. The only satisfying consolation I see with that deduction is that they are also terribly frustrated that Sarah Palin won’t fly off like a spooked grouse while they are beating the bushes.
CASE IN POINT A Perrydactyl posted an article that paints Perry as a "favorite" of the Tea Party.....but the link to the article affirms that Texas Tea Party leaders are unhappy with Perry. Remember that Perry was loudly booed at the Tea Party Debate on the issue of immigration.
CASE IN POINT He tries to look tough on illegals but Perry's first fundraiser in NYC was to an Hipanic group at Papasito's Mexican Grill......a voting bloc he will owe a lot to.
PERRY SURFACES Perry did not officially enter the Iowa straw poll......but he calculatedly timed throwing his hat into the ring on the same day Bachman won the Iowa straw poll----stomping all over Bachman's hard-won victory. Perry cunningly manipulated the Iowa vote from Texas. That strategy was supposed to put him ver the top. Instead he got a pathetic 700-800 write-ins ...while Iowa winners who did the right thing-spending time and money there- got 4000 votes each. The Perrydactyl's were cued to "say" Ricky won Iowa.
And there was Perry---front and center---waving to Iowans, taking pics in front of prominent Iowa banners---manipulating the media to make it look like he was the winner.
The winner in his own mind.
Perry's honesty was inadvertent. He simply blurted out his real feelings about illegals without considering how that would play with the base.
Most of us in Texas already know that Perry is weak on illegal immigration, but now the rest of the country has seen it for themselves.
As ThePatriotsFlag said upthread, Perry touched the third rail of the illegal immigration controversy the wrong way, and zapped his chances at winning the nomination.
Simple. He's run against dirtbags, loons, Socialist liberals, RINOs, comedians, and unknowns, in every single election, til now.
He also knows how to play a hard-nosed conservative fighter at election time, and has all the right friends. Sum total? He's a ruling class establishment man.
Thanks to both of you for your excellent analysis of this candidate.
Right now all this makes Romney the clear front runner. Is that what we want?
You're right this election isn't about in-state tuition fir illegals, but that to me is an indicator of how Perry will govern. If he's willing to sell the country out on this relatively "minor" issue, then what happens when congress passes a dream act type bill? Can we count on him to veto it? IMHO, if Perry is willing to compromise on this issue he's nothing but a typical progressive/RINO. Mitt Romney with a Texas accent.
This may be the last election this country has to turn things around. We can't afford 4 more years of Husein , OR a progressive-lite.
We've had a radical in office, it'll take a constitutionalist to get things headed in the right direction. Right now I'm leaning towards Cain, with either Palin or Bachmann in the VP slot (not that this will happen but we can hope)
Agree with you on Herman Cain, Newt not so much. I think he has too much baggage, and we can’t afford another 4 years with Baraq Mugabe Soetoro. If that happens this country is done.
Hes dead, Jim.

Spock! Do Something!
Yep, he’s a goner.

It was a dumb comment but since its early in the silliness of it all I’ll give him a pass. I live in Pa and I am a registered independent so it doesn’t really matter who I support in the primarys.
I want to know who has an idea that will work to get our country out of this mess.
Perry was the Anti-Romney, the one who could beat the anointed “front-runner.” After showing that he’s Romney with a Texan accent, his popularity was bound to decrease.
Cain didn’t buy himself the title of front-runner before any polling, like Romney did. Cain is earning that title; let’s hope he continues to prove a solid conservative candidate.
Whoever I vote for better convince me that the US citizens comes before anyone else.
If thye demean or insult us, they aren’t worth a bucket of spit.
If I want to be treated like dirt, I would vote for Obama.
“The idea that heartless Americans are gonna
vote for a great guy like me makes no sense.”
Ha! His carefully constructed mask finally slipped. He’s a RINO in every sense. The only exception, for which he deserves credit, is he’s pro-life.
This guy's a masterful con man----we also know that religion is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
