New Signs Palin Will Blow Up The GOP Race
Politic-Ology ^ | October 4, 2011 | Noah Rothman

Posted on 10/04/2011 3:10:57 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

“You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!” – Taylor (Charlton Heston); The Planet of the Apes, (1968)

This classic line is all that came to mind when I read this piece in POLITICO—following New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s decision not to enter the presidential field, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s law firm made a number of calls requesting early state filing deadlines… that’s right. She thinks she can blow it up. She just might.

Poll Shows Palin Within 5 Points of Obama

She Has A Documentary Out, Doncha Know?

Palin’s political action committee (Sarah PAC) employs attorney Mark Braden, with the firm Baker Hostetler, made the calls on Palin’s behalf on Tuesday afternoon.

It is not entirely clear if this is a genuine attempt to enter the race or another in a long line of attempts to get the press to focus on Palin, whereas most of her press coverage in recent weeks has come exclusively from Fox News Channel’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”

While not yet official, due to the ongoing shuffling of the primary calendar, the likely filing deadline for the New Hampshire primary is going to be October 28—making it the earliest in the nation and the formal deadline to enter the2012 presidential contest.

If she did enter the race, it would result in the most devastating internecine battle among Republicans since 1992—when Patrick Buchanan challenged President George H.W. Bush in a primary. Palin’s supporters, while smaller than they were only three years ago when she was the Republican vice presidential nominee and the toast of the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis St. Paul, remain doggedly supportive. Her detractors are slightly more numerous and are securely in control of the nominating process following Christie’s exit from the race.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has already landed The Home Depot investor Ken Langone, a committed Christie supporter. He will receive the greatest bump (if there is one) from Christie’s exit from a race he never entered (but he was polled anyway). Palin would almost certainly take from businessman Herman Cain (now in second or third place across several polls) and Texas Gov. Rick Perry (tied for second with Cain).

The battle would be fierce and bloody, and Sarah would likely loose. However, if she gets in without any semblance of a staff or donor base required to run a national campaign, she has no intention of winning. She wants a fight.

It’s a wish that will be granted with likely spectacular results.

I'm guessing Noah has a college degree, which makes his use of "loose" for "lose" even worse.

Yeah, lol.

Sometimes I have to admit that though I’m college educated, a pretty successful business professional , and rely on communication skills as one of my main tools, that one I still sometimes think for a split second on when typing.

I blame our crappy schools (yes I was public schooled and I’m 29 for time reference).

It is only getting worse.

Romney eliminates the ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE/DeathPanel issue.

Ineligible Romney also removes the fake BC issue.

Romney, who failed in the economy in Mass
as its wandering governor, will also negate the economy
issue.

Romney also eliminates the corruption issue.

IT’S UNANIMOUS FOR ROMNEY

Carville(D):
"It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing.
Romney is an ascendant guy
."

Sen. John Kerry (D) to Don Imus on RomneyCARE:
"I like this health care bill".

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D) on RomneyCARE:
"To come up with a bipartisan plan in this polarized environment is commendable."

Mitt Romney wins much coveted Jimmy Carter endorsement

Not around here. It makes the story 'hugh' and 'series'.

Does that make Noah a looser?

I dont see anything in this article about anything Palin might do. Part of it is a predication of what might happen if she enters, part of it is about Planet of the Apes, and part is about someone in her PAC making calls. This is one of the worst examples of trying to manufacture news I have seen, mainly because it is so lame.

It’s not just the typing or spell checker. I find editing is the biggest culprit. I’ll type something then go back to it and decide to edit. Too many times there’s something before or after my edit that needs to now be re-edited as well, and I miss it. That’s what 2nd opinions are for as in publishing, and the Internet isn’t the place where that happens...

...Sarah would likely loose

Clearly, he was distracted by a moment of presumed familiarity, given that this is the only use of anyone's first name in the entire article.

“She wants a fight.” Sarah Palin took on the “Murkowski Machine” in Alaska. She sure wouldn’t be worried about Mitt.

Sorry Noah. If she gets in, its to WIN not to pick a fight. Heck, she can do that just by giving a speech rallying tea party types and skewering Obama's socialist policies and no growth energy positions. No, no doubt about it, she will FIGHT to WIN!

It's going to come down to choosing between the culture of Massachusetts (read Romney, Kerry, Dukakis) and the culture of Alaska.

I think I can see where this would be headed.
