I posted this up in News/Activism because it is a call to activism, and therefore seemed to me to fit the bill.
This is a "caucus" thread - if you're a pro-Romney whiner, then go find another thread. This one is for conservatives who want to do something about the election besides hang our heads and timidly thump a tub for Mittens.
I've intended this thread to hang around for a while so that we can throw ideas back and forth and start trying to network, etc. If you're really interested in organizing for action, please feel free to join in. If you want to hang back and not get actively involved, well, feel free to join in or lurk too.
Thanks, Yashcheritsiy

romneyBots alert!
Regardless of your personal opinion about the thread, the fact nevertheless remains that it is a labeled caucus thread. Deal with it. If you want a "Kneepads for Romney" thread, then go start your own.
Leave it to a Mittbot to think of living on a planet - he really has gotten into your brain. Evil does that - it goes anywhere WEAKNESS is!
A necessary subject/thread.
I’ll bump it...to read later.
Hit with the truth? That Romney is going to drop out and endorse Gingrich? LOL! You're a real piece of work! I can't tell if you're batshit crazy or simply trolling for laughs. You're definitely one or the other though.
I feel confident I asked you not to respond to me if you couldn’t post something coherent. You’ve failed at the coherence thing. I do note however that you are absolutely obsessed with homosexuals. The member doth protest too much, methinks.
Why are you posting a dopey fake headline to me? Err, you do realize it's a joke headline right?
You do realize that the ancestors of your boy Willie Mitty never fought in the revolution on either side ???
The Romneys never came hhere until about 1830
In fact of the 6-7 generations of Romneys who have lived in the US
NONE have ever fought in any war...
None have ever worn a uniform...
Thats unusual for a family in America...
Your Willie Mitty dodged the draft TWO times during Nam...
Hes not fit to be CinC...
BTW The husband of that 65 yo grey headed grandmother wida-woman who was imprisoned by her long time neighbors ???
Well they had also known her husband who was killed in the French Indian War 20 years before...
He was a hero at the Battle of Lake George 8 Sept 1755 and is buried there...
He died to save their ungrateful butts..
But hey like you they didnt let facts get in the way..
Sadly that is probably true but they'll do it without my vote. My hands and conscience will be clean as I didn't vote for either of them.
I told you earlier don’t ever post to me again.
YOU are on IGNORE.
Read it, remember it.
You don’t have to be a Republican to be like Stassen, and Romney’s not a real Republican anyway ~ he’s on his second race. Stassen has him beat by a few but eventually Mitt will catch up.
Folks can make all the arguments they want, and draw all the lines in the sand that they want. But the math doesn't lie. And the math says that a non-Romney vote is a vote for Obama.
Wrong. I am NOT a Willie Mitty fan nor have I ever been. It seems you didn’t read my first post. I was/am for Newt. I am a conservative, and I am not for a pro-abortion pro-gay RINO. Please get your facts straight.
“Mod - Could we get a refresher on the rules for caucus threads? I can’t find them, although I remember from my trespassing in a Catholic caucus thread that they went something like âif you’re not a member of the caucus, stay away unless you can be respectful and leave your disagreements with the caucus at the door.”
Caucus thread? You are equating a pro-Obama vanity thread with a religious thread?!
Talking about delusions...
See post 115 - forgot to add you.
If you deconstruct each party you find that they both serve as coalitions of groups with common purposes ~ and many of those groups cross lines.
Each party tends to be governed a little bit differently than the other. The Democrats tend to demand party organization people come up through the ranks in one of the coalition partners. The Republicans find party organization people for the most part among business managers or owners.
There's a crossover when it comes to doctors and lawyers so you do find those guys moving back and forth across lines when they vote ~ and in many cases you find them participating in party organization work for both major parties (over time of course ~ probably why they think there are independents).
Over the last 75 years we've seen the African-American interest group move from the Republican to the Democrat coalition. More recently we've seen that interest group became the largest in the Democrat party.
During that time we've seen Southern whites switch from voting Democrat to Republican ~ and that happened as the Democrats abandoned their group.
Other major switches have involved whole states ~ considered as interest groups. Mississippi is thoroughly Republican but most of its mayors are black Democrats.
Massachusetts is overwhelmingly Democrat, but they regularly elect Republican (?) Governors. The understanding is the voters want these governors to serve to veto the more egregious pieces of Democrat legislative nonsense ~ Mitt failed in that job 'fabulously'.
The situation is so bad in Massachusetts that the state is actually losing population at an increasing rate.
During this phase in America's continuing development, private interest groups are of greater importance than states in defining the probabilities of political affiliation, but we still use the terminology of era of state dominance to describe what's going on ~ probably why everybody missed out on what was going to happen in the Southwest ~ Democrats are being replaced left and right. They could actually disappear everywhere but Nevada inside a decade.
Not quite sure what we ought to do with outliers from "the fringe" but at the moment we've got one of them thinking he's going to be President. We know he's an outlier though because he IGNORED the existence of a Conservative majority within the framework of the Republican Coalition. You don't win elections if you do that.
So how do we let them know?
How do we make it crystal clear that we've done what we've done in protest of being taken for granted?
There is little doubt that Romney will get the nomination.
There is even less doubt that Romney will lose to Obama.
It would seem to me that to be effective, any protest vote needs to meet a couple of criteria:
1:Each protest vote needs to be clearly identifiable as a protest vote.
2:There needs to be enough of these clearly identifiable protest votes that, had the votes been for Romney, they would have won the election for him.
Any ideas?
So? Look at who benefits: Obama.
I can see the headlines: “Conservatives reelect Obama”
Well, I hope for my children's sake you live in a solid blue or red state where your non-vote won't matter. Me? I live in Florida. I'm going to have to hold my nose and do the dirty work.
“This is beyond stupid”.......is it idiocy that is defined as doing something over & over again, & getting the same result over & over & over......I paraphrase. Can you say mccain, dole, ghwbush, ford? billva, you’re 180 degrees out of phase, but I know you mean well.
I think it might have been moved. The [Anti-Romney Caucus] in the title was removed.
"Some sort of happy fantasyland where Virgil Goode is going to select Sarah Palin as his running mate and crush Obama in a 520 electoral vote landslide?"
To quote Lucy when Shroeder finally played Jingle Bells her way: "THAT'S IT!!!"
Really good post muawiyah. Lots of interesting information here.
One thing that jumped out at me is your comments about the Southwest. Did you mean Democrats are going to continue declining throughout that region over the next decade? What about increasing legal Hispanic populations shifting the balance in places like Arizona to the left?
Need shut eye at the moment, but will return to this tomorrow.
Cheers.
What kind of math are you talking about? Not voting for Romney is not a vote for BHO it is a non vote for Romney.
Thanks Yash. Yes, it’s a great idea to keep discussing ideas.
Already there are some slobberers who have posted here which is part of the problem with an open thread.
Actually, they are probably Mitt and his sons under different pseudonyms.
How ‘bout we start by ignoring any tiresome posters who claim repetitiously:
A. We will be responsible for Obama’a reelection.,,ie “Obama thanks you”.
B. Mittens is inevitable and we should get over it.
C. He’s the lesser of two evils and we should stop with our temper tantrums.
Okay? :-)
Here's what's happened in the SW ~ the Anglos have begun pursuing their interests as Anglos, not just merchants, Catholics, Baptists, Mormons, rural ranching, suburban, etc. ~ and that has been forced on them by an increased voting population of Hispanics who see themselves as an interest group.
There's also a segment of the Hispanic population who view themselves as having the same interests as the newly defined Anglo group.
The Democrats will need to find some issue to attract all the hispanics, not just the illegal aliens' relatives who can vote.
Else, the Democrats will be reduced to representing school teachers.
At the moment the new Anglo coalition has taken over the Republican party machinery (if not control of the elections ~ hence McCain) and is able to push its agenda through the state legislatures.
CA doesn't count in this anymore. But you see the very serious phenomenon in New Mexico where the hispanic subgroup that views itself as sharing interests with the Anglos are winning elections with some regularity.
Only mittbots see things distorted.... like he can beat Obama.
Wow, that is a confusing site you linked to. It says 1 million strong, but only has 59000 likes, and then I can’t tell if it is pro Ron Paul, or Obama, looks like both judging by the pics and comments. Its nice to know that Paul and Obama are working together. Oh wait, there is a poll, and it looks like Paul is winning by a hair. Damn, we didn’t used to link to democratic sites before, how cool that it’s allowed now, makes it much easier for disrupters.
OK, now you're just drunk.
Amen brother!!!!
When it comes to you, PNSN, I'll always suggest drugs! You need them...
Think of it this way. For Obama to win, every vote for Romney has to be cancelled out by a vote for Obama. Then Obama needs just one more.
Now let's say that you and I dislike Romney so much that we refuse to vote for him (that's quite possible!).
What's the result? Two Obama votes aren't used up cancelling our two votes out.
Our not voting for Romney has given Obama two extra votes.
Sorry, I’m not a Mitt supporter. I may or may not vote for him, I am in Oregon so it probably won’t matter anyway. But I sure as hell won’t work to get the Bastard pretender in the White House reelected either.
It is a confusing site. And I have no answers. But the point is that there is a lot of opposition to Romney, and a lot of it can be found on the right.
The time for half measures is over. Romney can’t win, and even if he did, he wouldn’t do anything that would prevent the disaster that will come as surely as night follows day if radical change in the right direction doesn’t happen soon.
The only radical thing Romney would do is nothing. He’d be aggressively moderate, courageously non-controversial, and boldly bi-partisan.
Face it - whether it is Obama or Romney, the country's future looks bleak. No one looking at Romney's record can have any confidence whatsoever that he'll be any good at all. If Romney gets elected and it becomes clear what a dud he is, I'll not have to apologize to anyone.
You shouldn't be working for Obama anyway. You should be working the phones for Newt and he is STILL on the ballot and in the race. If you work 'for', you won't have to work 'against'.
If you are wanting an Obama defeat - vote for NEWT!! An insurance policy and a 100% guarantee win against America's Destroyer!
Oh, I agree, the problem is I don’t want to wake up on Nov 7 and see the American hating bastard and all of his sick freak supporters on TV rubbing their victory in our noses. Romney might surprise us, we know damn well what the thug in the White House will do. My problem with Romney is I don’t like him, he tries to hard. However, I cant imagine that America has fallen so far so fast, that it would reelect a man that hates its history as its leader. To many in 2008 wouldn’t listen to the truth, they know it now, so if he is reelected than the country that I grew up in is gone, and that scares the hell out of me, cause I have children and grandchildren, and I fear for their future.
You came into this thread with both fists in the air. Read the above again and then maybe what you say will be taken seriously. Sheesh! It’s people like you coming in swinging that makes it impossible to have civil discussion.
That’s the mittbot, they are truly unteachable - one can be assured, they were the bottom in the class. They are void of critical thinking skills.
I live in California. My vote for President is irrelevant.
