President Obama is making a targeted effort to court the votes of military veterans and their families, believing the constituency is in play for November and could make a difference in key battleground states.
The Obama campaign today kicked off a grassroots organizing effort dubbed Veterans and Military Families for Obama led by retired Naval officer and Iraq war veteran Rob Diamond.
Its no secret to anyone where our military bases are in this country and where our veterans and military communities are located, Diamond said of the strategy on a conference call with reporters. And the goal of our program is to mobilize and energize and activate those folks where they live.
Obviously, a state like Virginia is a critically important state with a large military presence, and thats where our veterans and military families live, states like North Carolina and a state like Florida, he said.
Obama lost the veterans vote in 2008 to John McCain (himself a veteran), 55 to 45 percent. But campaign officials now believe that changing demographics in the country and the military, coupled with Obamas record on veterans issues, could give him an edge.

Locking up the corpse men vote.
Well As a 30 year retiree, I wouldnt spit on the Muslim if he were on fire, let alone vote for the jerk
“The Five” just talked about his statement acknowledging that Vietnam vets were not always treated well by the anti-war movement.
Zero is definitely pushing for the military vote today.
I can’t imagine he’s going to get much of it percentagewise.
I never served (God bless RR) but the thought of zero makes me want to vomit for one simple reason: he’s anti-American. He hates America. And his wife does too. And she actually said it in so many words. What a corrupt political establishment we have that would let an enemy of the nation be nominated for President.
...as a veteran myself I am so very proud of the evil POS SOB.
Phhhht! Obama has locked up the anal vote, that’s about it.
...vets will remember his insane ROE!
Man, that Obama must get the best weed ever. I know they have to be high if they think Veterans are going to vote for Obama in a big way.
Our vets need to be reminded of when he dissed the disabled vets at the beginning of his term. His “opinion” was that the disabled vets should not get any continued care from the government. The vets should just go get civilian jobs and let the health insurance cover their combat injuries. Dear Leader’s view was that our military personnel signed up for “just a job”, they knew the risk, and their country owed them nothing.
BTW, I now refer to the bastard as Dear Leader, since, with the re-writing of history on the president biography web pages, he is now the equivalent of Kim Jong Il.
They mean the Veterans of the Revolutionary war.
