We need a flat tax rate is my point. We could all pay a bit north of 15% if there were not so many loopholes in the tax code that you need to pay an expert to guide you through the maze.
It is ironic that while many are championing a progressive tax rate as being “fair” and any attempt to do away with it a “giveaway to the rich” - those with millions in income actually end up paying a lower % of their income in taxes than a working guy like myself.
Worse is now that Roberts has unleashed the tax beast(while putting a yarn muzzle on the commerce clause) - there is apparently NO LIMIT to the governments ability to regulate behavior through manipulation of the tax code.

Hah! Just look at the politicians fighting over the podium to promote some absurd tax deal for Olympic winners. As if a Olympian should not pay taxes and you or I should. We all should pay less taxes, but loopholes and breaks are just symptoms of the state we are in. Politicians love breaks for some people. I agree, we should have a simplified code. So simple it should require the firing of IRS agents.

God only asks for 10%. Why should government get more?

I recall a story about Russia after the collapse....having difficulty collecting taxes....
so they started to hire out of work soldiers...as they could handle heavy weapons...
Subsequently went to a flat 13% tax rate and have no problems collecting taxes now.
