Skip to comments.Sarah Palin Is Wrong on Replacing Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton (She has 'em all lathered up!)

What is this fixation with replacing Vice President Joe Biden on the presidential ticket with Hillary Clinton?
Sarah Palin became the latest to make the suggestion, which is a pretty good indicator that it would be a bad ideaor at least, a bad idea for the Democrats. Palin, responding to Biden's remarks in Virginia that GOP contender Mitt Romney's plans for Wall Street would "put y'all back in chains," had the following advice, according to Fox News:
"If that's not the nail in the coffin, really, the strategists there in the Obama campaign have got to look at a diplomatic way of replacing Joe Biden on the ticket with Hillary. And I don't want to throw out that suggestion and have them actually accept the suggestion because then an Obama-Hillary Clinton ticket would have a darn good chance of winning."
True, Biden's comments had an unfortunate, although almost certainly inadvertent, racial underpinning to them, especially since his audience had a good share of African-Americans. But then, Romney's recent ad accusing President Obama of gutting welfare reforma charge that has been widely discredited by independent fact-checkershas a racial component as well. And telling Obama to "go back to Chicago," a city with a substantial African-American population, could arguably be cast as derisive towards urban America.
But the Clinton talkwhich never comes from the White House, but more commonly, from Republicans or some Clinton die-hards who still can't accept that Clinton wasn't the nomineeis still baffling. Biden is an asset, even when he tends to say things without first editing them inside his head (in fact, there's something rather refreshing about that tendency). The vice president is one of the most substantive people in Washington, especially on foreign affairs and budget issues he dealt with for years on the Hill. His relationships with senators on both sides of the aisle help ease the brutally partisan environment in Washington that has kept the two branches from working together.
And while Clinton has done a stellar job as secretary of state, there's no evidence that she would enhance the ticket from an electoral standpoint. There's not only a disturbing degree of racism out there (the determined view that Obama is "other" is sadly proven by the number of people who still don't think he was born in the United States), but there's a strong backlash against female power as well. You think it's hard getting a woman or an African-American elected to high office? Try putting both of them on the same ticket.
Palin, of course, has a right to her opinion. But if she says a Biden-Clinton sub would have been good for the Democratic ticket, you can be well-assured it's not.
The author obviously has not been reading our exchanges here on this subject this morning.
Visible PDS, on the part of the author. Stopped reading right there. ;)
I think she said it to rub salt into the wound of the Hilary follower when he sticks with Biden.
Sarah is enjoying the catbird seat these days.
She gets to stir the anthill and watch ‘em scramble and run into each other.
She is also probably inoculating AGAINST hilary VP by the very fact the dims would be loath to be seen “obeying” her.
I love it.
I think the author is wrong...but I hope obama heeds her advice. I think adding Hillary would help obama a LOT. On the other hand, I think Biden really really helps the GOP.
I hope he stays.
Oh Sarah gets in their heads and haunts their dreams.
Sarah Palin...(...all lathered up!)
I’m kinda distracted by that headline.
The author SWINGS AND MISSES.
Hmmm, what to do, Dear Leader? Stick with Biden? Gaffes galore until election day? Or take the advice of Sarah Palin? That would indicate she was actually pretty politically savvy, right? Not the dumb bimbo you’ve been trying to portray her as?
I would actually wade Into DU to read the meltdown if that were to happen!
Palin is clearly living rent-free in this author’s head!
She knew exactly what she was saying and I’m glad she said it.
The Dems would be loathe to take her advice. It was a very shrewd move.
I’ve got three lib sisters who’d love it if Obama dumped Biden and replaced him with Hillary. One of my sisters doesn’t much like Obama, but she hates Republicans worse. She was not happy when Obama beat out Hillary for the nomination.
“Visible PDS, on the part of the author.”
What does PDS stand for?
Governor Palin lives rent free in their heads.
There is no doubt that Biden is a senile racist.
I believe Hillary will take the bait.
I thought we got rid of her!!!
It's also true they won't jump in if they think Bambi is going to lose. She couldn't handle being the losing VP candidate and the potential scapegoat. If they think he has a good chance of winning, I think they might jump on the bandwagon if they can get her close to the presidency (hint, hint: impeachment, arkancide, etc).
I too don’t see how Hillary could think such a move would help her. So I’m hoping that that logic would carry the day.
Of course...if you are right that she wouldn’t help that much...and obama were still to lose, then, that would be truly awesome. Sort of a two-fer, whereas beating Biden is sort of non-consequential.
So....we shall see where all this lands in a few weeks.
Psy-ops? Hopefully so. Sarah knows the liberal media HATE her and by her going out and positing this publicly, she’s poisoning the idea. What? Sarah Palin has politics smarts enough to suggest 0bama will dump Biden for Hillary, and he DOES IT?????!!!!!!!!
I never really thought of Palin as a strategist. But on this one, I suspect the same thing. She may be suggesting Obama replace Biden with Hillary simply knowing that her suggesting it will absolutely forbid the narcisist in charge from doing exactly as she suggests.
Obama would look week by following the direction of Sara Palin. Therefore, Biden stays where he is.
I have begun to think Palin is suggesting it as "reverse psycology." BTW, that only works in idiots so we'll see.
Palin Derrangement Syndrome
“Please don’t through me in the briar patch!”
“And while Clinton has done a stellar job as secretary of state”
I about busted a gut laughing over that one. Bwahahahahaha, snort, snort, snicker, snicker, hehehehehehehehehehe.
You have got to be kidding me! Really?!? Lets look at the results shall we.
Biden is good on budget issues. The budget, if there was one, is out of control.
Foreign affairs? Laughable! Even the bumbling dems know better than to send this moron to a foreign country. They send Michelle instead.
Partisan environment? Worse that anytime in history with exception to maybe the Civil War.
Clinton's stellar job as SOS? The only thing she has "accomplished" is to divide the Mid East against Israel, setting the region up for future bloodshed.
Its no wonder that no one reads these rags anymore.
I'm pondering how we could make that an attractive idea to BJ Clinton..........
Gee Susan Milligan, Kennedy biographer, Y’all think so?
FOX talked at least 10 minutes this morning about this being a suggestion made by McCain. Some of the FOX commentators have such a difficult time acknowledging anything Palin that it’s getting ridiculous. McCain’s suggestion was just an echo of Palin’s.
Beat me to it, darn it.
Let’s see if Biden is now made to read a prepared speech from a teleprompter like the Big Guy!”
If so, they will need to make sure that no word has more than two syllables in length. Knowing Joe though,he might read the speech and then say something like, “Now, what we really mean is....” Joe appears to be either off his meds or on new ones that aren’t working and he simply isn’t able to stay on task, much to our amusement.
My dear Freepers....
Palin’s suggestion is the fresh version of Limbaugh’s famed OPERATION CHAOS.
Yeah, I’ve long noticed that too. Instances where Palin either gave a big speech that’s widely quoted, or a Facebook posting that makes some big waves, and they wind up getting covered on CNN, NBC and such... yet only silence from FoxNews. Really noticeable. Especially over the past two years. And considering she’s a bloomin’ contributor for Fox, all the more bizarre. I generally came to the conclusion that it was all part of the Rove/GOP-E stranglehold on the network, which immediately started snubbing (if not outright disparaging) the whole Tea Party/Palin wing after the conclusion of the 2010 mid-terms.
Also, what’s been all over the news lately?
Hillary’s girlfriend, Huma Abedin, has been planted in the State Dept by the Musloid Brotherhood.
Shrillary was the anointed one until the anointed one put her in chains.
Psy-ops? Hopefully so. Sarah knows the liberal media HATE her and by her going out and positing this publicly, shes poisoning the idea. What? Sarah Palin has politics smarts enough to suggest 0bama will dump Biden for Hillary, and he DOES IT?????!!!!!!!!I agree.
Plus, it recalls the Obama campaign's despicable treatment of Hillary in 2008, in case any PUMAs are paying attention.
How'd that work out for us?
All Liberals, including Obama, will instinctively shy away from ANY idea if Sarah had anything to do with it.
At the same time it points out the abject hypocrisy of Obama claiming to be the “pro woman” candidate.
Fox’s corporate stand on Governor Palin changed after she rejected the Roger Ailes advice to hunker down during the aftermath of the Gabby Giffords shooting.
When she made her “blood libel” statement, it seemed to cause Ailes to turn against her.
How did this work out for us?
Red on Drudge, Carney slams McCain for suggesting Hillary. Says he wouldn’t take advice from him regarding VP selection (yes a slam on Palin), but I think it was Palin who forced their hand. Talk all over the internet about bring in Hillary and it has been going on for a while. THAT would not have been good, but Palin coming out and giving advice killed the idea (for now). The switch Hilliary for Biden became more of a possibility with Biden’s latest hoof in mouth comments. She spoke up and THAT made if more difficult for them to take the Hillary route. They are only using McCain as an excuse, but Palin was the one who ‘messed things up’ for them, IMO.
