Push is on for Sarah Palin-led Third Party to go on 'warpath'
The Chicago Sun-Times' Politics Early & Often ^ | August 5, 2014 | Chad Merda

Could Sarah Palin revive her political career through an ultra-conservative third party? If one former California State assemblyman has his way, yes.

In an op-ed published on conservative Christian site Barbwire, activist Steve Baldwin says the GOP establishment just isn't cutting it.

And he thinks Sarah Palin is his woman to change that.

"We don’t want the GOP to pursue a 'socialism-lite' agenda. We want them to go on the warpath and do whatever it takes to stop the destruction of our constitutional Republic," Baldwin wrote. "It has become increasingly clear that the GOP leadership will do everything in its power to prevent the party from being influenced in any way by the Tea Party. I have given up on the GOP and am simply not sure it can ever be reformed."

He goes on to lay out a plan for a new Third Party that "will do to the GOP what the GOP did to the Whig Party 150 years ago: it will replace the GOP as the main party contesting the Democrat Party."

But Baldwin doesn't take all the credit for such a plan.

"I would never have said this a few years ago, but it may be time to create a conservative Third Party," Baldwin wrote. "Sarah Palin, among others, has suggested doing just this. But how do we do form a new Third Party without handing the Democrats many electoral victories for years to come?"

Is creating a successful Third Party a longshot? You betcha.

But Baldwin says that long shot would be a lot shorter if they had Palin at the helm.

"We would also need a stable of respected national conservative leaders such as Sarah Palin and others to lead the charge on such an effort," Baldwin wrote.

Baldwin apparently missed the memo that indicated Americans want Sarah Palin to stop talking.

Push is on to split Republican voters as it’s the only way Dems can possibly win now.

No bias there, no, sir. Of course, when the two main parties are Communist-Fascist-Degenerate (Dem) and Socialist-Crony Capitalist (GOP), anything mainstream would be "ultra right" to the moonbats.

I don't know the guy, but what he said right there, sure speaks for me. I want to see the Republicans suit up for battle.

I’ve been saying for some time that if she did do this that 10 million would follow immediately, guaranteed. Another 20 million within three months willing to do what it takes to make Sarah Commander-in-Chief.

It’s time.

Sarah is too smart for this BS.

I think ISOLATED cases can be made to punish certain liberal Republicans where it won’t have huge national implications.

However? If we can’t win in Republican primaries, how on Earth are we going to win in a General Election when all the Commies are voting too?

Republican voters are not necessarily the same as conservative voters.

The Republican Party has already decided to shun (those embarrassing) conservatives in favor of a ‘bigger tent’. Nobody’s more condescending to red-blooded Americans that the GOPe.

It's Rove, Priebus, Rollins, et. al., who you should be pointing the finger at, not conservatives.

Sometimes it is more about philosophy, and less about party and politics.

Plus or minus a few years, both parties have promoted statism for the last 100yrs. Time for a change.

We have needed this for some time—Think UKIP they spilt the vote. Break the party into Rino vs Tea Party BUT—before the election have the Tea Party endorse those RINOs they can work with—unify and cream the Democrat/Progressives. The GOP will be slowly pulled to the right.

It’s called voting. How many people do not vote? How many people stayed home last election? How about a Free Republic poll?

Not true at all. Dems already have us. They outnumber us. Only gerrymandering saved the House for us. And the only think that MAY give the GOP the Senate in Nov are all the seats in Red States the Dims have to defend. The Dims don’t need to worry about winning again. Ever. WE do. So it’s now or never for a Third Party. The GOP is dead. Demographics. It’s only a matter of time.

I agree. As much as I’d like to see her in a government position of leadership, too many of our own people would sabotage and hamper her efforts. Let her develop that cable station. She and her family have been through all manner of wringers as it is. Sometimes one follows via the route of least resistance.

It's more than isolated cases.

I used to ask that same question too. Not anymore. Did you follow what happened in Mississippi?

Let’s see! How many different parties are there?

Democratic Party
Republican Party
Libertarian (3rd. Largest Party in the U.S.)
Conservative Party USA
Green Party

At this point the Libertarian Party doesn’t stand a chance. Judge Napolitano, Ron Paul, Rand Paul and Glenn Beck are prominent members but it is still a fringe group. They are not mainstream enough. They need more Public Relations exposure. Unfortunately there is not time to sell the Libertarian Party to the voters. It would require a massive shift and funding.

A solid third party might find success by appealing to the ‘southern’/’bluedog’/’Reagan’ Democrats and Tea Party types.

Those Democrats have also been sidelined by the liberal take-over of the Democratic Party.

Too many third-party formations, however, tend to be single issue or personality oriented ventures that appeal to a small segment.

Even by winning in states, the general GOP seems to be unable to change its leadership from veering leftward. The GOP leadership seems to be hell-bent on following the liberal Dems over the cliff.
