With her epic fail, Wendy Davis painted Texas redder: Abbott captures women, making only Dems blue
The Washington Examiner ^ | November 13, 2014 | The Editors

The Democratic dream of “turning Texas blue” dissolved on Nov. 4. The left had elevated Wendy Davis, an obscure state senator, to superstar status after she delivered an emotional 11-hour panegyric to abortion. She was expected to ride her celebrity status and the “war on women” into the executive mansion in Austin. She had only to defeat a Republican white man. It didn’t quite work out that way, drawing just 38.9 percent of the vote.

From the top of the ballot on down, the wreckage from the Democratic effort was strewn across the state from Texarkana westward to El Paso. Mrs. Davis carried only 18 of 254 counties, 10 fewer than the party’s gubernatorial candidate four years ago.

The far-left Mother Jones magazine lamented that “the Lone Star State just got even redder.” Mrs. Davis couldn’t even turn Texas pink, to say nothing of purple or blue, despite fawning local and national coverage of her every word. To rub salt into the wound, the state Senate seat from Fort Worth that Mrs. Davis gave up to run for governor was captured by Konni Burton, a pro-life, Tea Party Republican woman.

Gov.-elect Greg Abbott won 52 percent of the women’s vote, including 67 percent of the white women’s vote. The latter statistic set off a Twitter howl among disappointed liberals, who called the white women “Stepford wives” and attributed their choice to “self-hatred and loathing.”(continued)

A couple of points along the border, Austin and San Antonio and inner cities, is where the dems have some standing other than that Texas is pretty red!! photo images_zpse83b1cfe.jpg

“Austin and San Antonio and inner cities”
Except for the ‘burbs too expensive for any but the rich, people in the SA burbs don’t vote democrat.

I decided a while back that building moats around any major city that is primarily blue and turning them into isolated islands populated by pariahs would be an excellent idea...

I think anyone who considers a place a home for themselves and their kids is axiomatically conservative; their ethnic origin is irrelevant. If they consider the place to be more than just a host to parasite from, it’s in their rational interest to protect and preserve it, and make it prosper.

Like I always say about sluts. Nice ladies don’t want to have anything to do with them and bad girls don’t want their competition around.

I think what finally did in Davis was that extremely ill-advised political ad that denigrated Abbott's physical handicap. That made a LOT of center-leaning voters mad at her.

Hispanics in TX own their own businesses. They have no desire for the food stamp party.

In comparing Wendy’s performance in 2014 to Bill White’s performance in 2010, there was only ONE county I could find where Wendy outperformed Bill. Can you guess which one it is? Hint: It’s EXACTLY the county you would expect it to be...

The border counties are poor like Mexico and people migrate back and forth from/to Mexico to work. It’s a different society along the border.

The rest of Texas counties is are mostly red except for the counties with the big cities. Some like Houston are sanctuary cities. I think as they migrate north to find jobs they congregate in these big cities or settle in others where relatives live.

The thing missed by the Washington liberals is that Texas is already very Hispanic (several generations and integrated) with strong Texas values. They helped build Texas into what it is today. Hispanics are very family oriented and more conservative than people think. Like the old democrats before them they are gradually shifting to the Republican party. The illegals are not going to overrun Texas and scrap our values for those of a sh*t hole like Mexico (or California) any time soon.

The voter-id thing will determine the fate of future Texas elections. I don’t think the liberals can win without fraud and most older Texans know all the tricks from the old democratic days. If honest elections prevail it’s adios Texas for Battleground Texas and a lot of the illegal troublemakers.

G_D Bless Texas!

I thought Wendy might have run stronger; her natural supporters remain too unorganized thus far to take over TX. But they are not giving up, of that we can be sure.

Of course. They never give up. They never rest. The campaign never ends for them. They fight on 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days out of the year. I learned this from the Clinton war room. The Democrats view politics as a continuation of war by other means...if I may borrow a phrase from von Clausewitz.

Some genius around the corner from me had a set of Dem campaign signs in the front yard. The others are all gone now, but the “I Stand With Wendy” one still sits there, proudly proclaiming that stupidity reigns at that address.

I fully agree. Mocking a handicapped person is as low as a person can go. I have Cerebral Palsy, and when I heard that it really disgusted me.

I also think many people that should have voted for Davis were stunned and totally shocked by that disgusting ad. One wonders did her campaign do a Say it out loud--is this a good idea? thought process before doing that ad.
