What Ted Cruz has to do to win the White House
El Paso, Inc. ^ | March 30, 2015 | Jonathan Martin, The New York Times

When Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas declared his candidacy for the 2016 presidential election last Monday, he became the first to do so officially. Here is a look at what he will need to do if he hopes to win.

The coalition

To win the Republican nomination, Cruz will have to bring together the party’s anti-establishment wing, which is made of separate but overlapping voter blocs, including Christian conservatives, libertarians and Tea Party voters angry with the leadership of both parties.

His ultimate goal is to get into a one-on-one campaign against whoever emerges as the favorite of establishment Republicans. To do this, he must find a way to stand out in a crowded lane of conservative hopefuls.

In a general election, Cruz would not attempt to win over centrist voters as much as he would try to galvanize conservatives who did not vote in recent elections because they were dissatisfied with the choices.

The map

Cruz’s primary prospects depend on a strong performance in Iowa or South Carolina, both of which include substantial numbers of Christian conservatives. If he is unable to win one of those early states, or at least be one of the top conservatives in the states that begin the nominating process, he will have a difficult time surviving into next March, when there is likely to be a rapid succession of contests.

Against a Democrat, Cruz would look to perform better than Mitt Romney in some of the Midwestern states among so-called Reagan Democrats, the heavily Catholic bloc of blue-collar voters who left their ancestral party to back Ronald Reagan, and evangelical voters.....

Let’s do it to the GOPe this time.

Bush v. Christie v. Huckster v. Etc.

I wish Walker could come out for Cruz, but its too early for those two to consolidate the right ..... Unless Walker doesn’t have the fire .....

Walker is who will likely get all of Jeb’s money, when Jeb pulls out.

No, no, no.

You don’t win the nomination or the Presidency by gathering the support of special groups so that you can get enough support to get in a one on one fight with the establishment leader and then change your position to win the Nomination to fight the democrat and then change your position again to beat the democrat. (That might work but conservatives would never be satisfied with such a candidate in the long run.)

You win by having a core set of values that determine policy positions that garner support. Plain and simple. If you have the right policies and can explain why they are the right policies, you will garner support within and outside of your base.

Winning a Senate seat in Texas, a reliably “red” state, is a bit different from winning votes in the swing states.

As the GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz will face the combined forces of the traitorous demonrats and the fifth-column media who will employ every trick, lie, deceit and treachery to defeat Cruz.

It would not be surpriseing to see the MSM encouraging isolated leftist wackos to attack Cruz or his family.

Sarah Palin got a joyous and heartfelt endorsement from the leftists compared to what they have planned for Ted Cruz.

Ted’s SS detail nickname should be SCRAPPER.

Contrast that to the poshitus who clings behind his wife at a ju-jitsu demo at the white mosque.

The Texas GOPe was against Ted Cruz and wanted Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the seat instead. Even Dewhurst critic Dan Patrick (the new Lt. Gov.) opposed Cruz and supported David.

I think Cruz would get more votes from blue collar workers than Walker.

Keep thinking that. I highly doubt that. Remember Cruz is an elite University graduate and he is at least 25 years older than Walker.

First he has to beat “winnier take all” delegates used time after time to attack conservatives. The Rino’s get a Rino like bush and he gets all delegates with on 16% of the primary vote. Nobody complains . Sheeple just keep grazing.

Cruz is 44. By your calculation, Walker is 19.
