Scott Walker has attended gay wedding reception

NASHUA, N.H. – Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has attended a wedding reception for a gay couple, he said Sunday, though the potential 2016 contender still believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.

“That’s certainly a personal issue. For a family member, Tonette and I and our family have already had a family member who’s had a reception. I haven’t been at a wedding,” Walker said when msnbc asked whether he would be willing to attend a gay wedding. “That’s true even though my position on marriage is still that it’s defined between a man and a woman, and I support the constitution of the state. But for someone I love, we’ve been at a reception.”

The Wisconsin state constitution had banned gay marriage until a federal judge ruled the ban unconstitutional in 2014. Wisconsin newspapers reported that Walker attended a reception for his wife’s cousin, Shelli Marquardt, shortly thereafter. After a brief period, an appeal halted gay marriages in Wisconsin — but they resumed late last year when the Supreme Court rejected the appeal.

Walker isn’t the only potential GOP candidate willing to attend such events. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who announced his presidential bid last week, told the cable network Fusion that he would participate.

“If there’s somebody that I love that’s in my life, I don’t necessarily have to agree with their decisions or the decisions they’ve made to continue to love them and participate in important events,” Rubio said....

I’m sick and tired of GOPe and would welcome a viable Conservative Party at the national level. Enough already.

i remember reading even Jesus spent time with sinners during His time on earth...

So that makes it OK to celebrate a perversion of His clearly expressed teaching on sexual behavior? I would think twice about leaping to that conclusion.

Some showed up but didn't vote for a liberal on the ballot, including liberal (R)s.

But we did vote for conservative (R) down ballot.

I'm a conservative, not a republican.

If the GOP decides to run a liberal, that's on them.

They won't get my vote unless they are also conservative.

Blaming the voter is a bad choice of salesmanship. Selecting a conservative (R) is good salesmanship.

Fact: If we will all vote for the lesser of two evils, and the GOPe expects that, the lesser won’t be less by much.

A reception is not a wedding.

It is a party.

The wedding is something sacred.

It’s a party celebrating rebellion against God. No.

Scott Walker is going to miss out on the Conservatives’ reception. I hope he makes it plain for all the voters soon where he really is.

A large number of parties are such.

Including birthday parties where the parents are not married.

Would he attend a reception for a rapist who got a suspended sentence? I mean if it was his friend and all...

He has two strikes against him now. He is pro amnesty and he is courting the homosexuals’ votes. I think his steering gear has come loose. If he doesn’t stop the car he is going to get sideways and crash.

Your claim:

"Seven million conservatives voted for Obama in 2012 by staying home."

is false. Despite your sophistry, I think you KNOW it to be false.

"Staying Home" and "Voting for 0bama" are two different things.

You know this, but insist on spinning it otherwise.

I believe you to be a liar and a shill for leftists in the Republican Party.

Deal with it.

Know this: Regardless of your semantic games, I am voting for Cruz, even if it’s a write in. Spend your energy making him the nominee.

See my discussion with the author of #3.

If you agree with the author of #3, I say to you what I said to him.

In 2012 cycle, I had hoped Perry would win, but I would have voted for Romney to keep Obama out.

This election cycle, I hope Cruz gets it, but I would vote for any of them, except for Bush, to keep Hilary from winning.

If Bush gets the nomination, I can’t tell the difference between the two.

Lay off the Rush lyrics, dude. You (most likely) didn't vote in a single high school prom King and Queen election in any school in the United States in many years... that doesn't mean that you actually helped elect any of the ones who did win.

("If you chose not to decide, you still have made a choice", in case you didn't get the reference.)

Either a candidate earns a vote, or they do not. Blaming non-participants for the outcome is just moronic.

There seems to be division on this issue even among conservatives, but personally, I would not attend a homosexual “wedding”. Not even if it were a relative. I’m not holier than anybody else (probably less so), but for me it would be like spitting in the face of God.

I have a friend whose sister decided she was a lesbian. This sister is a tyrant with her lifestyle...she uses it as a club, or a form of extortion. And she made clear to her family that anyone who refused to attend her “wedding” would never see her again.

I’d have said, well...bye.

If the GOPe knows they can pretty much count on your vote, you will get the same old swill every four years. And I suggest you would vote for Bush to stop Hillary.

I cannot believe how many unmitigated morons are on FR these days. He did not court ANYONE. He was asked a trap question by a media member who wants to scuttle his nomination. He answered it honestly, by noting a family event that he attended that might pleasantly surprise many of the knee-jerk haters on the Left... so the knee-jerk morons on the Right go after him instead. SMH.
