Anti-war protesters from the group Code Pink tried to disrupt a rally today, while presidential candidate Ted Cruz was speaking about the Iranian nuclear deal. Rather than allowing the bullhorn toting group to take over the event, the senator invited one to come to the stage for a Texas two-step of sorts in the form of a debate.
The event was sponsored by Concerned Women for America and was aimed at raising awareness about the four Americans being held by the Iranian regime.
Code Pink protesters began to shout Cruz down as he sought to address the crowd. When Cruz invited someone from Code Pink to come join him on the stage, co-founder Medea Benjamin stepped forward.
Cruz then began to lay out his problems with the Iranian nuclear deal, as he saw it. “If this deal goes through, three things will happen,” he said, “Number 1 over $100 billion will flow into Iran that they will use to fund Hamas. Hezbollah, the Houthis, and radical Islamic terrorists. Those billions of dollars will be used fund jihadists that will murder Americans, they will murder Israelis…”
Benjamin interrupted Cruz, asking him why he thought he knew better than Britain, France, China, Russia, and other counties. She noted the U.N Security Council voted for it unanimously. “So the entire world is saying this is the best deal we are going to get from stopping Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and bring about a peaceful settlement of this problem,” Benjamin asserted. “What makes you think you as Ted Cruz know better than all these countries together? You don’t! What you are pushing for is going to lead us to war!” she said.
Cruz countered: “One person with whom there is no ambiguity in terms of whether Iran wants a nuclear weapon is the Ayatollah Khomeini and President Rouhani, both of whom say they are developing nuclear weapons. There is no doubt about it.”
“That is absolutely false,” Benjamin responded.
Cruz pointed out in the midst of the negotiations that Khomeini was leading Iranians in chanting “Death to America” and burning American and Israeli flags.
CNN reported this past Sunday that the Ayatollah told a crowd of thousands of Iranians that “Our policies toward the arrogant government of the United States will not be changed at all.” He went on to state that Iran will continue to support its allies in the Middle East, including the Lebanese Hezbollah, Palestinian resistance groups, and the Syrian government. The crowd responded with chants of “Death to America!…Death to Great Britain!…Death to Israel!”

As reported by Western Journalism, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the deal a “stunning, historic mistake.” He listed three troubling aspects of the agreement in an interview with NBC News: 1.It lifts economic sanctions against the regime, allowing hundreds of billions of dollars to flow into Iran with no requirements to stop its sponsorship of terror and mayhem in the Middle East. 2.It keeps Iran’s nuclear infrastructure in place. 3.It gives Iran 24 days to respond to any inspection of facilities by the U.N.
Cruz agrees with Netanyahu’s assessment that the Iranian deal is a mistake. He pointed to Code Pink protesters signs, which read “Peace with Iran” and said that unfortunately, the nation does not reciprocate those feelings towards America.
After the rally, Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin told Politico: “There are many people that I appreciate for the way they react in situations like this…giving rules that allow us to express our opinions is important, it’s part of our constitution, it’s supposed to be part of our DNA as a country.” She added, “I think it was very nice of him to bring us up and very politic of him, but I still think he’s a war hulk.”
CWA president and CEO Penny Nance said that having Code Pink show up meant her rally was successful. “My belief on all of this is that if you’re not taking fire, you’re not over the target.”
As for Benjamin’s ideas, Nance told Politico: “I appreciate her passion and can relate to her passion, but I believe she’s 100 percent wrong.”

As you well know, I love Cruz, but I seriously think that the Ayatollah Khomeini has recently said that, considering that he’s been hanging out with his 72 virgins for 26 years now.

Cruz is much better at dealing with protesters than O’Malley and Sanders.
Even if he does not get the nomination, he has a lot on the ball and knows how to present his point of view while respecting others.

The reporter most likely misspelled it. He probably said Ayatollah Khamenei [not the old Carter-era Khomeini- different guy] but the pronounciation is about the same.
