Daily Mail: Trump Operation Eyeing Carson and Cruz as Potential VP’s
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | August 21, 2015 | Staff

The Daily Mail writes:

Leading Republican candidate for the White House Donald Trump hasn’t officially begun scouting running mates – the first primary is still six months away.

Two of his 2016 competitors come to mind for the position, however: Ben Carson and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

Trump’s campaign said he has ‘cordial’ relationships with both men based on ‘mutual respect.’

An ex-aide to Trump, Roger Stone, was also seen meeting with Carson’s campaign chief Jake Menges yesterday in New York. Stone says he did not set up the meeting at the behest of Trump, however.

Stone told DailyMail.com that he believes in ‘citizen action’ and met with Menges of his own volition because he thinks Carson would be a good fit on a Trump ticket.

He stressed that the meet-up was ‘not authorized’ by Trump and he no longer works for the real estate mogul...

Do you seriously believe Trump would take the position of VP to anyone? If so, you are delusional. The man is a leader, head of a multi-billionaire empire and you think he would be content to be a stalking horse for anyone? Seriously?????

I heard Trump say in one interview that he would most likely choose a politician as his running mate because he doesn’t think it would be a great idea to have 2 outsiders on the ticket. That tells me he would consider Cruz above Carson. Cruz is only an outsider because he has enemies in the Senate. But, he is part of the D.C. crowd anyway.

When I was in seminary the Association of Theological Schools has recognized that the Seventh Day Adventist had their own Theological Training School Seminary and College. The primary founder was a woman with the last name of White. Seventh day Adventism rose up in the US at the same time that there were other considered fringe denominations that came into existence.

Don’t go PC in any way. That is my advice. Don’t pick a woman or a black man JUST to be PC and try to win that way. It backfires, and then people will lie about why they voted for a PC person because they are the same cowards who picked the PC person in the first place. Just don’t go there.

My bet is neither will be on the ticket. Carson has a cult like following and nothing else.

Cruz is not going to be the nominee, and if he was the Republican party would do everything in it’s power undermine him. They would rather have a Democrat president so they can keep their lock on the party and use the threat of a Democrat president and a Democrat congress to blackmail conservatives to vote for them. Then when Cruz lost, they wwould blame it not on the fact that they abandoned him, but on his being “too extreme”.

Of course they will try that with Trump too, but unlike Cruz he doesn’t need them. He has the money and personality to go over the heads of the GOPe and persuade the public directly.

Cruz should either be president or stay where he is and can do some good. The Vice presidency isn’t worth a warm bucket of piss.

Donald has to win the primary first and it’s still early.

I will get no love on FR for saying this, but Trump has the “outsider” thing 100% covered. Trump’s best strategic pick for VP would be a GOPe-approved insider, so that the Republican establishment will support, rather than oppose, his election, and the ticket can claim government experience. After election, use insider’s connections to manage Congressmen and Senators to enact a reform agenda, and let them take some of the credit, thus co-opting them into being part of the solution, not the problem. A Trump-Bush ticket would work, but Bush would turn it down. Of the current candidates, who can deliver more electoral votes than they alienate? Which Republicans NOT currently running would voters see as a viable President and stable presence?

Should Trump win Cruz could help this country most by sitting on the Supreme Court for the next 35 years.

Ben Carson didn’t vote for the Corker bill and he didn’t support the trade bill and write an article supporting it in the WSJ.

Carson’s appeal is not only with blacks, but it is a solid 10% and climbing. These are the voters who don’t want to vote for the Donald, but really respect Carson and will vote the Trump/Carson ticket. He will bring in more overall votes tham Cruz.
