Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) is doubling down on his support for in-state tuition for illegal aliens.
On ABC, George Stephanopoulos asked Rubio about his work in the Florida statehouse in which he "co-sponsored legislation to provide in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants." Stephanopolous asked Rubio directly: "Do you stand behind that position now?"
Rubio said that he "absolutely" stands behind that legislation:
RUBIO: It was a very narrowly drafted bill. You had to have a certain GPA, you had to live in the U.S. a long time, you had to graduate from a Florida high school. It was very narrowly tailored to high-performing students who found themselves in a situation where they were brought here by their parents when they were 5, didn't even speak another language except English and therefore couldn't attend college because they were being charged like they were from out of state. They still had to pay for college but they paid for what people paid when they lived in Florida. They had to be high school graduates of Florida.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you stand behind that?
RUBIO: Yes, of a narrowly tailored bill like that, absolutely....

If that person has been living in Florida and paying taxes to support the university.
Never give more knives to backstabbers
Does Marco support in-State tuition breaks for murderers, rapists and armed robbers, too?
And low income American families? Nice knowing you.
“He said instate tuition rates for illegal residents in Florida. Total different from the head line.”
I absolutely won’t vote for this clown.
How about a break for the US taxpayer by escorting those illegals back to wherever they came from when they send in their college application form.
Either way, they aren’t supposed to be here. They are taking a desk away from a US student.
As long as no federal dollars are involved, there is nothing to stop a given state from exercising its 10th Amendment-protected state powers to give illegal aliens in-state tuition imo. But doing so ultimately depends on the threshold of wallet pain of a given states taxpaying voters.
What is with Rubio's licking his lips? Just saw him on TV and once again he was constantly licking his lips.
My daughter coudn’t go to a four year college (state) because she wasn’t a minority or illegal. Rubio is dead to me now. If he runs—I will sit out the election or go Libertarian.
Rubio is standing up for his brothers.
Sounds like Rubio wasn’t ready for the question and fell back on some older talking points.
This will STING...he’s looking more and more like Scott Walker every day.
@sshole Rubio means well for legal immigrants, but American citizens come first with everything...go back to Florida and phuck up its system and forget DC...it is bad enough without you...
Squatter's rights? Adverse possession? By illegal aliens?
And then you're given them tuition breaks, in-state tuition?
What a genius! I never would have thought of that!
That's sure to fix whatever's broken.
An in-state tuition rate would not be a tuition break in your estimation?
Either way, they arenât supposed to be here.
They are taking a desk away from a US student.
At the very least.
Still dead to me.
See ya! Wouldn’t wanna be ya!
Rubio’s sinking ship may be Jebbie’s life jacket, at least in FL.
