-- The article makes it sound like Ailes will be the one leaving soon. --

Succession planning is challenging. IF Ailes is unavailable for health reasons, or if profits become unacceptably low, then it'll be time to make an orderly change. FoxNews profits aren't at risk, at least not much. One debate is a drop in the bucket. Where else are people going to go for news in the long run? CNN, MSNBC, NPR, BBC? The elites have an iron grip on the machine that forms public conciseness. Profits are guaranteed, it's only a question of how they are carved up between the "professional wrestlers' (You mean it's all FAKE!?)

I watched the first Fox debate. It was a pathetic unprofessional clown show. CNN did a much better job and made Fox look silly. Sorry but those are the facts.

Hey PunyPetro -

Keep trying to convince yourself.

There, there, that’s it.

Feel better?

Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

FOX news is a joke and should be treated as such.

Looks like he just a snack. Must have had an elephant in the green room to dip in some sauce.

Concur, Trump is an idiot and this is probably one of his best negotiating tactics, throw a tantrum and refuse to show up. He showed up for CNN and MSNBC debate but Megyn is biased.

That will work well with world leaders... reminds me of my youngest grandson when anyone asks him to pickup his toys or do something he doesn’t want to do, you get the “your mean” and he hides in the corner.

I think a level playing field is one thing, but why debate if you're the leader, and the moderator is out to make you look bad? I think you go with you gut. It's a win win for Trump.

Name a softball question that was thrown at Cruz the last debate. The first two question were gotcha questions from hades. The debate that Trump first took issue with Kelly had just as tough questions thrown at all the candidates. Nobody but Trump complained. Just a fact of life, conservative get the tough questions because democrats just hee-haw lawyer talk when asked anything beyond what type of underwear they prefer.

It's a win win for Trump.

It may be, Trump is no wiz at debating, he is constantly getting booed this year. That hurts an egomaniac and he tends to just get mad and lash out. His fans may love it, but it does his favorability numbers with other voters no good. It may be a win win situation. Time will tell.

The MSM needs Trump, he doesn’t need them.

Is the debate not a safe place?

Just curious....why watch the debate now?

Just curious...after six previous debates, even if Trump didn't pull out why watch debate number seven?

Wkorld News now is erroneously reporting that Trump dropped out because Fox would not remove Kelly from the debate. Did not say a word about the snarky press release that was the final straw for Trump.

CRuz is professional debator. Trump is a novice. He goes with his gut... he runs the risk of saying something stupid.

As far as the art of the debate.. Cruz and Rubio are far an away better. BUT people, like my brother, think that the best debater should be president...That’s crap.

Another terrible debater in his later years was Reagan.

I agree with you, and it’s another reason why he should not debate. I personally had some concerns about the debate a few days before Iowa...and Fox tries to make him look bad... and they could with the questions they throw at him...

I was worried to the point I was thinking not watch..

Also, you’re winning. Why debate your opponents ON THEIR TURF if you’re winning? Makes no sense.

Let them debate themselves....

Lol.. Because he’s afraid of a girl.. Because it isn’t fair...what a loser. It is funny though, I laughed so hard, I cried. Yeah, we need a leader who is scared of a girl.

Why should the objective of a debate be to make one or more candidates look bad. Why pit the one against the other like they’re gladiators...

Why debate when you’re ahead. You have to place to go but down.

Plus, would you debate now after the press releases from FOX on him?

Fox should postpone the debate. In the meantime Cruz should continue to challenge Trump to one on one debates anytime...anywhere.

“The real reason is Cruz chews him up one side and spits him out the other.”

You may want to back off the hallucinogenic stuff while you watch the debates, if you are watching the same debates the rest of us are.

You forgot the sarcasm tag. But perhaps it was so obvious that none was needed.

“................All this week, Trump blustered and threatened that if Megyn Kelly wasn’t removed as a debate moderator, he would not attend the debate. He had reason to think, based on his past experiences with virtually every other media entity in the country, that he would succeed. Fox News finally called his bluff and told him to take a hike. According to Trump’s campaign, Trump will now definitely miss Thursday’s debate. Whether this is a bluff or not, we don’t know. Certainly Trump could change his mind at the last minute and his dedicated supporters would not care.

But the important thing here is that finally, an alleged news organization has decided that they will not let a subject of their coverage dictate the content thereof. The importance of this step cannot be understated. If Trump can cow the media this successfully when he’s just a candidate, imagine what he might attempt if he is elected? I think it’s no exaggeration to say that this might be one of the many ways in which Trump genuinely wishes he could emulate Putin.

Thank God that Fox News finally realized that they are strong enough on their own merits that they will continue to be healthy and profitable without the presence of The Donald in one of their debates. At long last, someone in the media realized that their long-term credibility might be more important than a one-time boost in ratings for a debate that will frankly draw pretty well even without Trump’s presence.

Trump meant what he said earlier this week. He really does believe that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue, and no one would say anything to him about it. For the first time this election season, someone in the media has decided to prove that maybe he really can’t. Thank God it finally happened; now we just hope it isn’t too little, too late.
