Seems to me that a guy from VT has about as much credibility on black neighborhoods as Bill Clinton preaching on the merits of celibacy.
Well Bernie did grow up in Brooklyn before he escaped to Vermont.
Two points of interest, he met with al sharpton and one of his rally’s were high jacked by black lives matter. This is where he is headed
Just pull the cops out, see what happens.

Here in Newport News community groups in the East End call for more police to try and stop crime. When police patrols are increased they complain about too many police.
So then what do we say to Black people who live in these neighborhoods work their behinds off trying to get on with an honest life. Sorry about the thugs that burned down your neighborhood? We can do better than that.
Exactly, let black communities be completely independent. Let them run their own police, fire, and emergency services.
I would include Electricity, Water, Sewage and Electronic communication services too.
They want it, they get it... Toyota. (LOL)
Send in the meat wagons and fire hoses once a week to clean things up - it will take care of itself.....until what’s left migrates to other government-subsidized areas.
It is hopeless; these areas are just being abandoned wholesale by People That Matter. Many urban blacks complain about lack of opportunity but insist only black-owned businesses operate in their areas; they want black cops but many black men intelligent enough to do police work opt for a different career (remember the stories of black police applicants that couldn’t pass background checks?). They want police to stop the violence, but not arrest the perps because they are their relatives/children.
Hopeless.

Bernie Sanders should be given the Margaret Sanger award.
Sure withdraw the police from black neighborhoods and allow law abiding (those without felony convictions?) citizens to arm themselves and let them have at it.
Maybe he should check with the REAL black community that gets their ONLY protection from the police. There is NOT ENOUGH police presence available to stop crime in black areas...Chicago? ...Detroit? He is listening to 1960’s dissident rhetoric, ....from Black Lives Matter? I didn’t realize he supported such people and their “ideals.”
Absolutely tragic but also absolutely not my fault and it should be absolutely not my problem.
Also, I have absolutely no ability to fix the problem.
For a Communist, criminals and violent subgroups are social allies, useful for keeping the majority, especially any remaining middle class, off balance and unable to mount opposition. It comes along with ubiquitous informing - if you see something suspicious, tell someone (the police). Violent subgroups do not normally challenge the government- pace the Chechens- and are easy to channel.

I still think the biggest question is psychological. What will armed Americans do when a future Democrat president announces s/he is inviting U.N. troops in to oversee the Ferguson P.D., Baltimore P.D., Chicago P.D. etc.?
These would be “Peacekeepers”—not presented as an invading army, though that is exactly what they would be.
I even read somewhere about giving them GREEN helmets, and calling them defenders of the “Environment.”
It all amounts to the EXACT SAME THING: A sneak attack on America, intended to confuse the patriotic forces that would readily defend against an overt foreign army.
Once while e driving thru an inner-city black neighborhood, a white friend expressed amazement that so many windows and doors had burglar bars.
He thought only white people need to protect their stuff from burglars; he’d never considered the possibility that criminals might target their own neighbors. He figured blacks are all on the same side and have some kind of unwritten rule not to commit crimes against other blacks.
The race hustlers make it about race because they make a good living at it. What it is really about is culture, societal norms, and opportunities to live a decent life.
Bernie moved to Vt in the mid 60s. Clinton still considers himself a Southern Baptist.
