Absent more or better info, How the state of Illinois chooses and instructs its state electors to the electoral college appears to have been intended to be primarily at least a state issue, from what we know so far anyway — if somebody has better information they’ll almost certainly share it with us here . (I assume but do not know if this case is filed in the correct court in Illinois... If it’s not, the court will certainly so advise ... We will see what happens ...) and I remain very open to learning more or better about this. Jurisdictional questions can be very, well, arcane... Even weird, actually. But a state’s electors to the electoral college were at least set up to represent that state and be subject to that state’s jurisdiction primarily.

Committing murder to get into the Presidency is fairly rare. LBJ did it. GHW Bush attempted it.
Well, all 50 states have chosen to adopt voting as the method of appointment of Electors, but it's not required. Any Legislature that so chooses can appoint Electors directly, by coin toss, by a rugby match between Democrats and Republicans, or by reading the entrails of an owl.
Those owl entrails sound very promising. I bet they’d get us far better president’s than we got now -— far better!

The extra 7 states are, Baja Arizona, the State of Jefferson, North Colorado, North Florida, South Florida, the State of Lincoln and West Kansas. ;-)

The Constitution is a funny thing, the public can interpret its meaning however harshly it chooses.
A questionable meaning doesn’t necessarily have to go to court to get “resolved.” The court does not step into the voting booth and select a candidate, We the People do. The court can choose to do nothing or come down on an issue like a ton of bricks. WE can still choose to ignore their ruling.
Abortion is a good example where the court has ruled in favor on a woman’s right to choose to end a pregnancy before birth. Many people disagree with this ruling and view the act as federally sanctioned murder. Every voting cycle this issue is used as criteria for and against any candidate who has taken a side on this subject.
Ted doesn’t have to answer to the courts on this issue of his eligibility. This issue came up long before Trump entered the race.
