For Democrats, one thing is worse than President Trump: President Cruz
The Los Angeles Times' Top of the Ticket ^ | March 11, 2016 | David Horsey

And then there were two -- the two whom most Republican Party elected officials, donors and political consultants have identified for months as the least appealing options to be their presidential nominee: Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

Yes, there are still two other men left in the race, but if Sen. Marco Rubio loses in his home state of Florida in next Tuesday's primary, as looks likely, and if Gov. John Kasich fails to win his home state of Ohio the same night, as is quite possible, both will almost certainly drop out of contention. Only Cruz will be left to challenge the Trump juggernaut.

The American political and media world has been fixated on Trump with a growing realization that he could not only win the GOP nomination, but the presidency. Democrats, at first gleeful about facing Trump in the general election because they saw him as a sure loser, are now sobering up. Trump has brought millions of new voters into the political process, and many of them are working-class folks who once were a key constituency for Democrats. If he is the Republican choice, the Democratic candidate will have to run hard to avoid being swamped by the wave of anger among disaffected voters that Trump is riding.

Still, for Democrats, there might be something worse than having Trump in the White House. That would be President Cruz....

They’re undoubtedly cheering the fact the GOP seems like it will duke it out.

I think Trump is strong. You think Cruz is the guy.

That could mean Mitt or someone.

Something to keep in mind, as the votes get further tabulated this week.

Just saying.

Mitt isn’t a candidate and it’s too late for hum to get on the ballots, so quit trying to scare everyone with that.

Cruz is the real deal, but he stumbled badly tonight with his comments about Chicago.
Cruz has time, Trump is right now.

Great article. I appreciate how the author lays out the Democratics’ views of the top Republican candidates. They KNOW Cruz won’t compromise with them!

So Trump and his rhetoric are not at least partially to blame for trouble at his rallies? His skirts are completely clean?

No I am saying if Trump and Cruz manage to not end up having one of the two of them selected, then the convention will move to someone else being selected.

Because neither one of the two of them, will end up selected by the GOP.

Neither one.

What does that matter?
Have you seen any Bernie or Hillary rallies disrupted?
So Trump is to blame for the the rabble seeking to disrupt his rallies?
Seems this cycle has become a blood sport...I think it is time to soil the democrats skirts.

Yes, Black Lives Matter has disrupted both Sanders and Clinton rallies. You didn’t know that?

This fight has been coming for a long long time The Left are now and have always been savagely angry and violent. All any body had to do was FINALLY stand up to them and boom instant “violence”. This was predictable and predicted on these very boards many many times YEARS before Donald Trump came along as a candidate.

The Left are angry and intractable and they define evil as any who disagree with them.

As I understand the rules for the GOPe convention, they could nominate a ham sandwich to be our next candidate.

Oh please. Cruz stood there last night and turned his back on Trump and every one of his supporters. He turned out to be an opportunist weasel.

I used to say I’d vote for him as my second choice, gladly. Not any more. His “comments” were nothing but a campaign speech. Wow, what a nothing burger he turned out to be.

“So Trump and his rhetoric are not at least partially to blame for trouble at his rallies? His skirts are completely clean?”

To listen to lieberals “Yes”

They claim the right to the most offensive free speech and art without retribution

If you try to have crucifix in a jar of urine removed you are a narrow minded censor. If you call for those who do not believe in AGW to be put in concentration camps your liberal friends laugh. If you challenge them they retreat to Freedom of Speech.

Trump has NEVER at his rallies instigated violence but has responded, perhaps inappropriately. His rhetoric is reactive to the protesters thus cannot be blamed for causing them. Chicken-egg argument the protesters came first and have been getting progressively (Pun intended) more disruptive.

Trump does not bare any responsibility for the protesters. Your argument is the same as saying a rape victim deserved it because she was in a short dress.
