Pollsters had major trouble spotting the surge of support for Corey Stewart in Virginia’s Republican governor’s primary this week, suggesting they still can’t figure out how to successfully survey Trump supporters.
Mr. Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors and onetime Trump campaign chairman in Virginia, ran as the Trump figure in the race, pursuing an anti-establishment message that centered around a tough approach to illegal immigration.
Polling — which was strikingly infrequent — showed Mr. Stewart failing to crack 20 percent support, trailing Ed Gillespie, the putative front-runner, by as much as 27 percent. In the end, Mr. Gillespie nipped Mr. Stewart by just 1 point, 44 percent to 43 percent. That left a lot of Trump-style Stewart supporters hidden in earlier polls.
Michael McKenna, a Virginia-based pollster and strategist, said the results should be another wake-up call.
“Researchers have to do a much better job of making sure that they are getting responses from all kinds of relevant populations,” Mr. McKenna told The Washington Times.
The sentiment swept through the polling community last year when surveys, while correctly catching Hillary Clinton’s popular vote lead, missed Donald Trump’s performance in a number of battleground states......

I’m afraid it doesn’t matter l think we’ve lost VA statewide races. Too many deep staters who work in DC and live in VA. That plus McCaulif killed any attempts to stop the voter fraud.
Do a better job? There are options, but it's tough and expensive. There is no inexpensive way to get the opinions of people who at best hang up and more often (1) share a few choice expletives, or (2) never answer calls from unknown numbers. While I would enjoy the challenge and even worked on (successful) methods of reaching what used to be a small fraction of voters, I'm glad I retired before it reached this point.
The American people and American voters have to realize reality. There are very few (Maybe Rasmussan), if any political polls that are any where near accurate these days!!!
Just one week ago, every political poll taken in the Georgia 6th CD Special Election Congressional seat race, being held on June 20th, 2017, showed that Obama’s pretty boy man servant, Democrat, Jon “Pajama Boy” Ossoff was beating his Republican opponent, Republican, Karen Handel by seven (7) points and climbing. Everyone of these polls was Democrat, left-wing, progressive or media, biased polls!!!
Effective yesterday...all these polls had closed to a tie. This never was a seven point spread race. This tie now represents a “Democrat/Media” attempt to CYA on the polls, just in case Republican, Karen Handel defeats Democrat, Jon “Pajama Boy” Ossoff, which now appears quite likely!!! Fake News/Fake Polls!!!
Folks in the Georgia, 6th CD, cast your votes for the Republican candidate, Ms. Karen Handel!!! Go Karen Handel, Go POTUS, Donald J. Trump....MAGA!!! Help good, decent, loyal, patriotic, Americans defeat & destroy the entire Democrat Party, politically!!!

I’m in GA 6th and today alone I’ve been called three times by pollsters. I hung up each time. These polls coming out of GA are nonsense. Multiple times a day for the past 6 weeks we get polling calls. I hang up and when my husband gets the call he gives them silly answers to mess with them. I dont think we are alone in our distaste of these callers. Republicans have never been to keen on polling.
Always a tough decision. In this case I think I would vote RINO just to keep it Republican.
