True, US Army personnel are already on the payroll, so labor costs for that part of the workforce would be nil. What’s the downside?
That's not OUR job. Our military is good for killing bad people and breaking their things, and maybe, just maybe, for WALL building!
Actually, they are GREAT at killing people and blowing stuff up.
But you know what, they’re also really, really good at being able to deploy an awesome amount of logistics, supplies and services within about 24-48 hours for a Humanitarian mission. I’m not saying they have to be there forever and keep the peace, definitely not, but they can do things that other entities cannot.
And in doing those missions and all the associated tasks that go with them, military personnel get real world experience to do their jobs, work out issues, and maybe develop ways to do the job better.
So yes, they can help out. Operative word, HELP. Get in, help set up, get out.
