Well, a guy with a gun in an office building isn't really that much more of a story, frankly.

The Congressional office buildings? Someone wandering through the halls of Congress (literally) with a gun in hand (or in backpack) not a story?

You don't get it at all, do you?

Haven't been there since way before 9/11, but it used to be that the only metal detectors were at the outside entrances...meaning you could get between all three House office buildings, the Capitol and the Senate office buildings without going thru a checkpoint again.

Because the O.J. Simpson case was such a ratings bonanza for them, the cable new channels seem unable to kick the habit of hyping at least one or two legal cases a year. As for me, if I never hear the name Peterson again, it will be too soon.

U.S. Capitol Office Building Shut on Gunman Report

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. House of Representatives office building was shut down on Thursday by Capitol police, who said they received a report that a person with a gun may have breached security.

"We have information that someone with a gun made an unauthorized entrance into the Cannon office building," U.S. Capitol Police spokeswoman Jessica Gissubel told a local NBC affiliate. The man was possibly carrying a .38 caliber pistol, she said.
