"It seems to me that if we can listen to sexual disfunction adds on the radio ten times a day we can put up with women breastfeeding in public"

Ten times?...seems like a hundred, and the TV commercials are even worse...

we also as women must put up with the many distasteful commercials about our periods, pads, tampex, etc....

female sexuality in all its glory is thrown at us on every street corner, on every billboard, on much of tv and radio....

yet, one mother nursing her child, THAT draws the ire of someone.....

of course, we all know mothers that breast feed as if they are looking for publicity....lol.....

I found that nursing my children was best done if possible in a quiet place.....they would nurse and fall right asleep very peacefully....if you have ever nursed a baby, you know that "look" of a very content, happy baby...

but also, the time I spent alone with my babies was very precious to ME....I had this special bond with this little one with a subtle form of communication that no one else on earth could understand, just me.....that made me feel very special myself..

so naturally, I liked nursing in a private location....but if my babies needed it, they were fed where ever and whenever...

Exactly. Of course I would plan outings around the baby's schedule. But as we all know, a baby's schedule can change by the hour. I have never met a Mom who nursed in public with an in-your-face attitude. If someone had a problem with nursing in public, I considered it that person's problem, not the Mom's.

I do understand how the sight of a baby sucking on the nipple makes people uncomfortable.....that is where "descreet" comes in.

There are things that make me uncomfortable also. Reminds me of the time my 4 year old and I rode by a field and saw the bull & a cow were having sex right by the road. Not quite ready for that conversation, I told my son they were playing leapfrog. Okay I lied, sue me. Lo and behold, a year later we rode by the field with his grandparents in the car. "Grandpa! Mommy & I saw 2 cows playing leap frog one day!!!!" He is 21 now...I guess he has figured out it wasn't leapfrog they were playing. :>))))

"They will have to deal with me."

A big bump to that!

Let's all try to remember that fifty years ago, people were arguing over whether or not it would be "appropriate" to desegregate schools. She's got the law on her side.

I'm sure your wife was happy to find out that you equate the act of feeding a child with the act of depositing feces in a toilet.

That woman should have apologized, not the restaurant. I certainly would not want to have someone starting to breast feed when I'm eating out.

The sad thing is, it was the only healthy food being served that day.

The few times that I've seen someone breast feeding in public, they had a blanket to cover the child and breast. So you really wouldn't even notice or see anything.

I did not equate the two, I'm simply going right for the throat of those that use the argument of it being "natural". If it is so nonchalant to whip out a boob in a restaurant then why don't women simply run around topless all summer? It seems that when it's a "womans" issue every female of every political spectrum starts to get hormonally involved.... the old "it's my body" crap.

She's got the law on her side.

Are you claiming to know all of the facts surrounding this incident and to be familiar with the local laws of Orem, Utah? ...or is this an emotional conclusion based on the very limited and questionable details provided in the article posted on this thread?
