Can someone please explain this to me.

Chief posted his message @ 7:37 AM PST telling us that the president's plane landed about an hour ago. So the time the President was in the Airport was approximately 6:37 AM PST on Thursday. That means that the time in Iraq was 5:37 PM on FRIDAY when the President arrived.

Why would the GIs be eating Thanksgiving Dinner on FRIDAY instead of Thursday?

Brilliantly said .. and I couldn't agree more.

I especially loved this statement: "we are in the presence of greatness once again" .. yes we are!

Ok, 11 hours ahead of us on the West Coast. We were at 6:37 AM on Thursday when our President was at the Airport according to Chief. Add the 11 hours to the 6:37 AM and you will get 5:37 AM on Friday in Iraq. So when we had 6:37 AM on Thursday the time in Iraq was 5:37 AM on FRIDAY. That makes 11 hours.

So my question is this why were the GIs having Thanksgiving dinner at approximately 6:00 AM on FRIDAY?

Please do not take this the wrong way. I respect the President's courage for doing this. I just want to get the details straight.

"she doesn't have a real reason to be there"

Actually .. the fact she is a member of the Armed Services Committee could probably be used as her excuse.

Iraq is AHEAD of PST 11 hours as you said. So when we are at 6:37 AM Thursday PST, Iraq is at 5:37 AM FRIDAY. You fail to account for the fact that Iraq is almost a DAY ahead of us. Iraq is not a day BEHIND us.

Right now PST is 11:48 PM FRIDAY. The time in Iraq is 10:48 AM SATURDAY. 11 hours Ahead of us.

So why would the GIs be having Thanksgiving dinner during at approx 6 AM on FRIDAY?

Again, I mean no harm to anyone. I just want to know.

Nope, still here and not under arrest.

Glad to hear that.

Has anyone said anything at all to you?

If not do you expect that someone will?

6:37 AM Thursday PST, Iraq is at 5:37 AM FRIDAY

Wrong... 6:37AM Thursday PST is 5:37PM Thursday in Iraq. Like Kuwait, that is right about when the evening starts.

Yeah .. it was the guy from NY, Rangel. He was on Hannity and kept saying over and over that there were a disparity in black servicemen to white servicemen. The pictures from the front have not proven that to be true .. and military stats do not prove that either .. however, that has never stopped the RATS from spewing their lies.

um... there is a BIG difference between seeing a C-5 and a 747 flying (especially when the 747 is AF-1). For one thing, the engines sound different.

That's true. About once a week a C-5A flies in and out of the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. It has very loud engines. The engines on Air Force One are much quieter. Compared to lots of military jets like F/A-18s (ever been directly under the flight path of an F/A-18 during take off or landing?) a 747 is actually fairly quiet. Considering most of the planes flying in and out of Baghdad International are military and are flying approaches to the airport meant to minimize the ability of terrorist on the ground shooting them down with SAMS rather than to minimize noise, I doubt Air Force One made as much noise as most of the jets landing at Baghdad. When you consider Air Force One landed at night with it's lights turned off and just a crescent moon, I doubt people on the ground were able to see it very well as it made its approach.

However, the specific location could not have been determined, even with the clues I left.

How many airbases in Iraq could possibly have handled Air Force One? I think that criteria alone narrows in down to Baghdad International Airport.

Hi Chief,

I am a little late to join this thread because I am working in Asia and just had the chance to get online to check out the news reports about Bush's Thanksgiving visit to Iraq.

Chief, I just want to thank you and all your buddies for your fantastic service to our country. God bless you -- you guys are in my prayers every day here in Shanghai, China! And God bless our President for celebrating Thanksgiving with our wonderful soldiers who are putting their lives on the line in Iraq for all of us Americans to stay FREE in a world where FREEDOM is such a precious word!

There are more complicated explanations, involving government conspiracies, time travel and artificial FReepers, but my screen tells me that you only have an FR security clearance level of 1, and your era is not yet ready to learn certain truths.
