Tojo tried to committ hari-kari but we got to him before he died. We nursed him back to health, tried him as a war criminal and hung the miserable bastard.

This is true, If I remember correctly, we basically kidnapped Noriega? I can't remember the details :/

Thanks. Yeah, we surrounded him in a church and rock-and-rolled him out.

We didn't confront his main forces head-on; we special-opped him out.

The first two were not declared. Police action in Korea. Was that a conventional war? The military was under harness in VietNam, hardly what I think of as conventional wars.

At least the congress voted on Gulfs 1 and 2. I thought fighting under UN restriction and not going all the way into Iraq made this a less than conventional war.

Don't you know that the sprint into Bagdhad with a few firefights on the way was the "new method" and hardly conventional.

PS: At least W is fighting to win. That's what I think of when I think conventional. The good ole days.

Practioners of the Blitzkreig might disagree with you. ;^)

I don't really think that one can demoralize Islamic religous fervor with a trial and execution of Saddam.

Just an idle thought, but what happened to the leader of Grenada when we waltzed in?

...........or they may agree!

I'm out. I should know better than to disagree with someone who spends more time here than I. After all, I hate being conventional.

Best wishes!

Remember: If I cannot win with facts, I'll wear you down with persistence. :o)

I've decided not to count aboriginal tribesmen, technical and temporary leaders, or anybody nicknamed "Pineapple Face".

Look, it's my contest, I get to set the rules. ;^)

Okay, okay, I'm probably not 100% accurate here, but this feels like a shockingly different situation than any of the others. This was a real mobilising-the-country ground war. This was the geniune leader of a country for 25 years or more. It doesn't seem the same as capturing Geronimo, Tojo (since the Emperor was the number one man), Donitz, or Pineapple Face (where we more-or-less special-opped him out).

There has always been a debate about what role the Emperor actually played in the war. Some say he was a figurehead and others say he wasn't. It's still open to interpretation. That being the case, I can always fall back on Noriega :)

Catching Saddam is still a BIG DEAL though.

It certainly is possible he is a non-pork product grease spot. Many believe so. On the other hand I want DNA evidence.

You're not going to get your desired DNA evidence.
It could maybe be found if we wanted to remove the debris but
please don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

Those with the need to know already do.

Ok so you know? I don't believe it. Bush badly needs OBL Dead or alive. Latest poll only puts him 6 points over any not named Democrat. That's not enough. Dean would be out if OBL was dead. end of story.

President Bush already knows. He's known since at least 12/13/01.

Ok so the entire war in Iraq and most of Af"stan was for oil? When it comes out that we lost kids for oil -not to get real alive terrorist where will Bush be then? Lots of pissed off mothers and wives would be on him. Please explain the logic of not announcing OBL is atomized? I must be too stupid to follow that one. FWIW does Art Bell know?

What the heck are you talking about?
I never said anything about oil.

I believe President Bush acted for the reasons he stated.
